She’s still in my life and I’m lucky to have hers I only hope one day I can be this for my children, that they still want me around when they’re grown. Strong masculinity means strong divine feminine energy at the roots. It means being cradled in the core of the feminine maternal womb, cradled in a secure attachment and secure childhood. Actually, this goes for all children, not just for one gender. So much of the health of the society rests upon the physical, mental and emotional health of the mother. So many people are wrenched away from this at such an early age. It’s actually one of the many silent ways western patriarchal society wages a war against its citizens. Baby formula is posited and marketed as a viable and better replacement, and is used to create an addiction to sugars, there is vicious backlash against breastfeeding in public in many, many countries, and there is actual rage against breastfeeding past infancy, as we’ve seen from certain magazine covers. The war to divide early childhood bonding goes all the way back to birth. After birth, natural or cesarean, mothers are sent back to home with far too early with little support, as birth can be very expensive. And if they have a cesarean, where five layers of tissue are opened during this full abdominal surgery, the mother is expected to stand up six hours later and be the main carer for that new tiny human. This is the only major surgery where this is expected of anyone. Then mothers may have to go back to work far too early, as is the norm in many countries. Or, they are trapped at home doing all the work to raise the newborn and often other children and often undergoing a variety of challenges there. At home or at office, they have to care for at least one more person, while dealing with numerous painful breastfeeding and postpartum problems, lochia bleeding, on top of the intense uterine contractions due to the stimulation of mammary glands and release of oxytocin from breastfeeding. And it hurts. It hurts all the time, especially in the cold. Then there are possible infection and health issues of you and the child to deal with. Then there are psychological issues from hormonal instability and potential baby blues or postpartum depression. Some countries don’t support women at all, suppressing or hijacking their reproductive, education, renumerative or access to healthcare rights. Some don’t even allow them to drive. Some mothers are giving birth in jennasides, going through all of this, for their perfect little bundle of joy to freeze to death in a tent after a month. There are very few spaces in the world where children feel safe. Why are we attacking mothers and children the world over, why are we making it so hard to raise and protect our babies?
