While Global Bauxite flows registered a 9% year-over-year increase on average since the start of 2024, voyages performed by the VLOC fleet (deadweight over 220,000 MT) have been boosted disproportionately, more particularly post-April. ??? ? ?? Over the past 4 months, the largest Dry Bulkers on the market, which are loaded with Bauxite only out of Guinea's ports of Boffa, Cap Verga and Kamsar, carried out 25 voyages (compared to 17 in during the same timeframe in 2023) and transported 55.7% more cargo. ? ?? July also marked a record for the most Bauxite discharged from VLOCs in a single month. All this meant that VLOCs achieved a market share of over 9.2% over the last 4 months, whereas they're traditionally responsible for between 5% and 7% of all Bauxite cargoes shipped globally. ? ??
