Business leaders have so many special qualities. One that I admire is curiosity. They look a their communities and are diligent in asking questions that inspire creativity and purpose. I attended an after hours called Chamber on tap with many small business leaders by Partnership Lake Houston. This business is called Kangas and she met a need for families who had very little options for their children to play and interact with others outside of school. ?Curiosity ?? ?Purpose ?? ?Creativity ?? During my appearance on Viewpoint Project with Dennis Quaid, I shared a core belief that deeply influences my actions: Our experiences are not solely our own—they are meant to uplift and empower others. From navigating new cultures and languages to breaking barriers in business, my journey has been filled with challenges that have not only fortified me but have also provided insights on how best to support and empower others. I first came across @The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) when I was working in the Middle East for an organisation actively involved in the development of youth entrepreneurship across the region. Recently the latest report was released which underscores Britain's transformation into a notably more entrepreneurial society since Labour last held power. As someone who actively works with #femalefounders, it's particularly inspiring to see the surge in female founders. The percentage of women establishing start-ups has nearly tripled, rising from 3.5% in 2002 to 10% in 2023. This momentum has significantly picked up post-pandemic, showcasing the resilience and determination of women entrepreneurs. The report shows that the ratio of women to men in entrepreneurial activities has also seen a remarkable increase, jumping from 41% in 1999 to an impressive 85% last year. This indicates a narrowing gender gap and highlights the critical contributions women are making to the entrepreneurial landscape. However, the study also brings to light a concerning trend: fear of failure. Despite the entrepreneurial spirit, six in ten people in Britain cite this fear as a deterrent, a stark contrast to lower levels of fear in the US, France, and Germany. As a co-founder of GEN UK - The Global Entrepreneurship Network UK and through my extensive experience working with startups, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of female entrepreneurship.
