Here's your chance to tour the oldest home in California! Come down to San Pedro Square Market this Saturday, Oct 12 from 1pm-4pm and learn all about the Gonzales/Peralta Adobe! Tours are normally paid and by appointment only. Don't miss out! Take advantage of parking in the Market & San Pedro Square Parking Garage (45 N San Pedro St). Parking is free for the first 90mins in this and other ParkSJ garages. More info at ParkSJ.org About the Gonzales/Peralta Adobe: Many people are surprised to learn that the oldest home in California is nestled in the center of the modern-day San Pedro Square Market. The adobe was built in 1797 by the family of José Manuel Gonzeles, an indigenous person of N’Dee descent and the second mayor of San José. The second occupant was Luís María Peralta, who held the highest office in the community as commissioner. Both were part of the Juan Bautista de Anza expedition. The adobe is the last remaining structure from El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe. Venture inside the home and see two rooms furnished as they might have been when they were occupied by the Gonzales and Peralta families.

So let's suppose I get that CEO job with the California High-Speed Rail Authority www.hsr.ca.gov. Here is. what I have in mind. (1) Travel time by mode placemats; (2) Lunches with the CEO as part of a "listening tour"; (3) An all hands meeting to discuss the findings of the "listening tour"; (4) a one-day retreat. to the Grand Island Mansion to strategize completing Merced to Bakersfield by 2028 when the Olympics come to Los Angeles, so that the Basketball events can take place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento; and (5) the periodic preparation and submission of infographics (highly informational graphics) periodically to the Legislature with special emphasis on the Legislators who are on the High-Speed Rail Board. The current timeframe for Merced to Bakersfield is 2033. This is unacceptable. We really need to hit the 2028 target. This will save the taxpayers of California billions of dollars.

Join RDG’s Charlie Cowell, AICP, Scotney Fenton and Michelle Sacco Cunliffe as they present an introduction to historic guidelines at the Preserve Iowa Summit on June 7. Historic design guidelines ensure that the quality and integrity of neighborhoods and downtown districts are not lost. Whether for residential neighborhoods or commercial districts, historic design guidelines can be a useful tool for educating residents or can be used as a "how-to" guide for historic preservation commissions. Further action includes these guidelines in the regulatory standards for city staff and planning commissions. https://ow.ly/ETM950RPktj
