“Bankers Hours” ? Where did that saying come from?!? Everybody insert their jokes here… But seriously; I know this is meant as a slight but when I hear bankers hours it not the 11 to 2 then out on the golf course that people joke about. I run a business, its all in, making it happen whether is 5 in the morning or the middle of the night. When my friends and clients aren’t sleeping, I’m not sleeping. When someone I care about is struggling, I’m struggling with them. When I get a call from a client at 9PM on a Saturday night cause they are curious about ESOPs and my family is already asleep, we are chatting ESOPs cause I love it. (Yes that has happened) Or an email at 5AM about a business acquisition and they are worried; yes, absolutely that has happened. I just read an article about companies putting an HR policy in place to cap hours. ?? When you love what you do, it’s not work. If you don’t then maybe that’s a thing. When you love the people you are spending time with it’s not work. When have time to do all the fun, personal and family fun things you want then it’s not work. I love “Bankers Hours” Life doesn’t just happen between the hours of 9-5. Some days it’s early, some days are late, some days are easier and some days are harder. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have been spending an hour each day working on my swing, with a net in the backyard. What I discovered is I wasn’t getting real feedback on my progress. I had no way to measure it. Measuring progress is important, as the saying goes, "You can't improve what you can’t measure”. ?? ? That said, it's essential to ensure that the metrics being used are the right ones. That they are relevant, accurate, and timely. ? ? In my experience, the things that are most important for progress are those that are hardest to measure or even identify. So instead, we substitute with things that are easier to measure, rather than figuring out how to measure what we really want to know.? ? ? And we wonder why we don’t get where we want to go, and we do not grow the way we want to grow. ? So now I am using a swing monitor that measures key metrics (swing speed, ball speed, smash factor – cool name right!). ?
