The City of Humboldt (2020 population of 4,792), located in north-central Iowa near Fort Dodge, is seeking a City Clerk/Finance Director to be part of its management team. Under the general direction of the City Administrator, the City Clerk/Finance Director plans, organizes, and directs all financial activities of the City which has a $14 million annual operating and capital budget.?This includes maintenance of City records, long-term financial forecasting, cash and debt management, rate analysis, budgeting, financial statement preparation, and supervision of the Deputy City Clerk position. The starting annual salary for this position is $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.?The City offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, life insurance, and eligibility for the IPERS retirement plan.?This position requires knowledge of the principles and methods of public administration, principles and methods of public finance, principles and practices of accounting and budgeting, municipal accounting, taxation, and revenue management as would be acquired through a degree in a related field.
