It was so fun to participate in this terrific event and connect with so many students and aspiring neuroscientists, researchers, operators, and writers.
The future of #neurotech and the world is in good hands! I was so geeked to meet these teenagers and 20-somethings interested in science, technology, engineering, computer science, policy, law, creative writing and more.
I shared a few reflections from my zigzagging career path as a writer, analyst, and entrepreneur at Patchwise Labs that I wanted to jot down quickly.

Identify the thing you like to do at work that makes you lose track of time, that you are excited about getting better and better at over the years. That's your Craft. Then, figure out how to add value by doing it for others. This will help you find your Trade.

If you're a self-aware type, you might find yourself wondering whether it's better to focus on doing what you're good at, or shore up your gaps. The answer is, "Yes." It's not a seesaw, it's a wobbleboard.

This one is not for everybody. You don't have to settle for what's available. There are few fixed rules in life. If you want to work on something, work on it. Money can become a cage, but your career mindset is the key to unlock agency.

Showing up matters a lot. What you are or aren't "qualified" to do based on education or experience on paper doesn't have to be a dead end. A growth mindset, self-awareness, perseverance don't come with a degree attached but they are critical traits that can be learned. Adapt, try, fail, and build yourself into who you want to become.
