When we're stressed or challenged and we just don't know what to do it's in these moments that we need to resource ourselves - to consciously pause, breathe, and gain perspective. Perhaps one of the greatest detriments to our #HealthAndWellness is the micro stresses we encounter throughout the day that we don't even notice. For example, feeling responsible for the emotional well-being of others can be more draining that we might think. In this piece for HBR, Rob Cross, Karen Dillon, and Kevin Martin share five ways we can combat these stresses and prevent #burnout in the process: 1. Start small by choosing one micro-stress that is easy to address. This can help build confidence and the mindset we need to address the others. 2. LEADERSHIP IS A BALANCING ACT ?? Due to technological advancements, the pace at which our planet and people are evolving is phenomenal, with life happening at high speed. Most of us have either been there or currently ARE there as we are having to journey through challenging personal circumstances whilst keeping the professional leadership front pumping. For some it may be the other way around and for others even both! ???? For me, it was when I was holding down senior leadership roles in the NHS during the epicentre of the Covid pandemic , whilst enduring cancer for a second time as a single mother. If these circumstances are not managed well, as you know the repercussions can be detrimental : ?? Exhaustion ?? Stress ?? Low mood ?? Low confidence ?? Anxiety ?? Lack of clarity ?? Compromised relationships The list goes on and the negative impact it can have on both our personal and professional lives can be longstanding and even devastating ??. So how can we enable ourselves to better navigate and embrace such circumstances amidst an ever changing rapid environment?
