The thing about chronic illness is that it never comes alone. It tends to bring its friends. And sometimes, those friends are pretty nasty. And you kind of get used to tests for nasties coming back positive. So when you find yourself waiting for test results for something really shitty, it can be really stressful. My advice is to be gentle with yourself. This isn't your first rodeo. Want to watch Hallmark movies? Fine. Want to meditate? Hope it helps. Want to bake cookies? Whatever works. Zero guilt for whatever you need. #ChronicIllness #Disability #SaveOurSpoons #Spoonie #Support #Tests #WeAreBillionStrong Image description: A tray of freshly baked choc chip cookies lined with baking paper, on a wooden table.

WE ARE BANNING HALLOWEEN This year, we’re taking a bold step to ban Halloween—not because we dislike fun, but because we care deeply about our health and the well being of our community. Every year, Halloween brings an avalanche of sugary treats that contribute to serious health issues. Did you know that it is predicted that 1 in 10 adults in the UK will be living with diabetes by 2030? https://lnkd.in/e8FKi8Bx And a staggering over 60% of adults are classified as overweight or obese https://lnkd.in/eQuXywkY). This is not just a statistic; it’s a call to action. The NHS is already stretched thin, battling the consequences of poor dietary choices. Let’s face it: all those chocolates and sweets might seem harmless, but they add to the growing burden on our healthcare system. Sugar not only leads to weight gain but can also result in long-term health complications like heart disease and stroke. This Halloween, let’s change the narrative. Instead of indulging in sugary snacks, let’s celebrate our commitment to health. Share a picture of your healthier choices—be it fruits, nuts, or a fun activity—and join us in saying NO to the sugar overload. Use the hashtag #NoCostumeNeeded to spread awareness and inspire others. #HealthOverHalloween #SugarFreeHalloween #DiabetesAwareness #ObesityAwareness #ChooseHealth #HealthyChoices #CommunityCare #HalloweenWithPurpose #NHSHealth

Some kids are food-responsive, or more drawn to and motivated by food, while other kids may be satiety-responsive, or more sensitive to their feeling of fullness. You know your kid best. I believe setting up a framework for feeding meals and snacks keeps food predictable while allowing your child agency over whether or not they’ll partake. It also avoids potentially negative habits around eating, like grazing or becoming disconnected from appetite signals. Structure and routines aren’t limiting or punitive. They’re supportive of a child’s need for stability, predictability, and security. Want to learn more? Comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to my book, where I guide parents in how to set up healthful eating habits for every child.

?? Why Checking Your Dog for Ticks is Crucial ?? Ticks can pose serious health risks to our furry friends, leading to discomfort and various health issues. Regularly checking your dog for ticks can help prevent tick-borne diseases and ensure their well-being. Signs Your Dog Might Be in Discomfort: ? Persistent Scratching or Biting: Dogs might scratch or bite at their skin if they’re feeling irritated or in pain. ? Unusual Lethargy: A sudden drop in energy levels could indicate discomfort or illness. ? Changes in Appetite: Eating less or showing disinterest in food can be a sign of distress. ? Excessive Grooming: Over-grooming can be a response to irritation from ticks or other issues. ? Behavioral Changes: Increased aggression or withdrawal may indicate that your dog is not feeling well. Check your dog regularly for ticks, especially after outdoor activities. If you notice any signs of discomfort or find a tick, consult your vet for proper treatment and care. #DogCare #TickPrevention #PetHealth #HappyDogs

You know what’s really scary? Handing out candy to young kids. It’s like the Hansel and Gretel story, but instead of a dark forest and the witch dying at the end, we’re just creating an appetite for sweets from an early age. Who’s really behind this sugar overload? Listen I don't want to sound like the Grinch—I love seeing families go all out with their lawn decorations and watching the kids in their adorable costumes. Halloween parades at school are a fun! But when it comes to the candy overload, it's way too much for little bodies to handle. And we all know the parents end up stepping in to help manage the sugar rush, but is that really the solution? Sure moderation, this seem so excessive. Let’s not forget who profits from this. Big candy corporations? Sugar producers? And are pharmaceutical companies cashing in on the health issues that follow? As someone in the natural health industry, I hear from parents every November that their kids are feeling under the weather. Sugar suppresses the immune system for up to six hours after consumption. It’s inflammatory, contributes to diabetes, and messes with brain health and mood. So, I can’t help but wonder—why do we keep giving candy to kids? The outcome is kind of scary. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Trick or Treat night!
