It was truly a privilege to moderate such an special AAPI C-Suite event.
A million heartfelt thank yous to Nikita Malhotra, David Angelo, and Jenn Wong for your precious time and brave honesty. The conversations we had were truly inspiring, giving many of us the stories we needed to hear to better understand our career path forward.
And my deepest appreciation to Bernice Chao ?, Christina Lu, Meghna Kothari, Leisha Bereson, Genie Lara, Lawrence H., and Andrew Gelbart for all your Asians In Advertising leadership, support, and behind the scenes magic to help bring this virtual event to life. This community is truly a dream come true for Asians trying to break barriers.
With so many great gems shared during our panel discussion, the lessons that deeply resonated with me:
?? There is no “one right” path, only the path that feels right to you. Listen to yourself – what really matters to you, what excites you and gives you energy, what motivates you to keep going. Only then can your exceptional gifts and talents take you farther than what you thought was possible.
?? Own who you are and let that shine. We are who raised us, how we grew up, and our what has happened to us. But we are also everything we set our mind to. Mindset matters. We can practice authentic leadership every day in our personal and professional life by embracing our roots and origin stories and giving others permission to do the same.
?? Be in the relationship and apprenticeship business. Don't let perfection and fear, be your enemy of progress. Your success isn't just about what you know—it's about who you know and how you grow. We thrive on connections, and these connections often open doors to new opportunities. Whether you're just starting out or aiming for the C-Suite, focus on building genuine relationships and seeking mentors who can guide your journey.
Every great career is built on the foundation of strong self-awareness, authentic leadership, meaningful connections.
As my dad would always write in my birthday cards growing up "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll fall among the stars."
