Hiring for Attitude in Accountancy & Finance - Looking Beyond the Resume This week I’ve had loads of conversations with finance leaders in the Real Estate industry in New York. The majority of the conversation cover Attitude vs Skills debate - what should I be hiring for!? The harsh reality is that the active talent pool is much smaller than it was before and organizations are looking for same Ideal Candidate Profile (ICP). The success of a Controller or Staff Accountant in your organization isn’t only about having the right technical skills — it's about the attitude. The right mindset, ambitions, and values. Forward-thinking organizations commit to diversity, GENUINE flexibility, and career development opportunities. These things are not perks, but must haves in today’s market for your role and organization to stand out! When hiring into your team are you looking beyond the resume? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #FinanceRecruitment #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipInFinance

FINANCE FRIDAY! ?? If you’re searching for a new role in finance, you may have seen that job descriptions often say ‘In Practice’ or ‘In Industry’ – or at least mention one of those. Whether you’re planning your career or considering a change, it’s important to know the differences between the two. Here are some that we think are key: ?? Skills development: Practice roles offer broad exposure and skills that are highly transferable, while industry roles provide in-depth expertise in one specific field. ?? Work environment: Practice can often be fast-paced with high client interaction, whereas industry may offer a more stable environment with internal focus. ?? Career goals: Consider whether you would prefer variety and client interaction (practice) or deep specialisation (industry). If you want to have a chat to discuss which route is best for you, get in touch with Olivia today! ?? 07930549990 ?? Embrace Opportunity: The New Financial Year Boosts the Legal Job Market! After a long Easter Weekend, we step into a fresh financial year! The new financial year always brings a surge to the labour market on both Employer and Employee sides. Here are brief reasons why: For the Employer: With the start of a new fiscal year, law firms review their budgets and allocate resources strategically. With teams having refreshed recruitment budgets, this can mean new openings, expansions, and investments in talent. For the Employee: The new financial year often brings with it a host of promotions as we pass appraisal season. People often consider moving jobs when they see others being promoted, as it prompts reflection on their own career trajectory and desire for advancement. Feeling undervalued or recognizing a mismatch in opportunities may drive individuals to seek new roles where their skills are recognized and there's room for growth. In essence, the new financial year injects vitality into the job market with an expected upturn in both roles available and candidates looking for a change. As we all well know, the job market is cyclical in nature. Whether you're a Senior Associate or Partner looking to explore new horizons, or a Trainee solicitor looking for NQ roles, it’s worth exploring opportunities that the new financial year brings. ‘Leaving it until summer’, could be a regrettable outlook. #NewFinancialYear #JobMarket

Some serious stereotypes here but there is no smoke without fire! Ive been recruiting for 20 years so Im a generation X. It is really interesting how see the changes in particular with recruitment for each new generation. A lot of great changes, but some, I've got to say, not so good! Younger people are far more interested in their purpose and values and culture, rather than just money or rewards. And companies who havent really cottoned on to this are finding increasingly hard to recruit. But whether you are Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennials or even Gen Z, if you are working in Accoutancy Practice and are interested in exploring opportunities in the North West, then please reach out. Whether you work in General Accounting, Audit, Tax, Internal Audit or Risk, Im here to help Just saying Recruit Better More Brains, Less Bull #accountancy #accountancyjobs #accountingjobs #accountancyrecruitment #acca #cta #auditjobs

Public Accounting Recruiter | North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia & Remote opportunities | 743 500 2107 | [email protected]
A sentence I often hear is, "I want to get out of public accounting because of the hours and lack of recognition" Too many hours spent travelling to sites. Unrealistic billable hour goals. Hectic audit schedules. Lack of engagement Poor culture What if there was a CPA firm who could help you escape that? People have joined this firm to escape jobs working 60 hour weeks. People have joined this firm because they love audit, but, don't like the firm they work at. People tend to stay. Interns have become partners. They're not recruiting at Senior Manager, Director level. They don't need to as they can promote people like yourself from within. Keen to find a firm where your work life balance is respected? A firm where hybrid working is truly flexible? Don't fancy going in today because the roads are chaos? Work from home. Kids kept you up until late? Stay at home. *No-one is counting how many days you've gone in the office* Keen to hear more? If so, get in touch. We are hiring for this firm in Raleigh, NC at Audit Associate, Senior Associate level as well as Manager.

"The #lawyers have it easier. They can do whatever they want. Getting them to do anything is so challenging. They don't understand what we really do." "The #businessdevelopment team has it easier. All they do is tell lawyers what to do. They don't have to deal with clients or know what it's like. They don't understand what we really do." "The finance team has it easier. They only have to send out bills once a month. They don't understand what we really do." The legal assistants have it easier.? The IT team has it easier.? The HR department has it easier. Everyone has it "easier" when you don't understand what each person truly does, how long something takes, and their challenges. It's easy to assume others have fewer hurdles than you when, in reality, every role has unique struggles. Instead of playing the "who" has it worse" game, take a minute to learn what someone else's work day looks like. Next time you work with another team, ask a question or share how your work connects with theirs.?It might just make both of your jobs a little easier. If you want to talk about your work struggles, reach out. #stage

After the first quarter of 2024 (and our most successful to date in the Hutcheon Mearns - Dundee office!), I've reflected on trends we've experienced and thought I would share!? Can you believe it's April already?! ? ?? In-demand skills sets: Accountant level roles - £35,000 - £55,000 across a range of sectors but typically in SME's, and Transactional opportunities for AP/AR roles from £23k - £27k. ?? Interim market: There remains a lack of immediately available candidates for temporary contracts but an increased demand for individuals to take on interim projects / roles.?As a result, we are getting increased interest for our Specialist offering! ?Working patterns: Flexible working opportunities have been requested and offered on a number of roles ranging from transactional finance positions to Senior Finance opportunities, widening the talent pool available. ??Office based? Growing sentiment amongst business leaders to mandate more office-based working but this doesn't seem to match the sentiment of the workforce in the main. ?? Local traffic challenges across Tayside, Angus and Fife have heightened the need for flexibility, mitigating the headache of some commutes.?Many individuals are still only considering opportunities with some form of hybrid working to reduce commutes. ?? High numbers of applicants applying to roles via adverts but quality and relevance of applications varies greatly. ?? Experienced applicants feedback that they are getting little response from direct job applications which seems contradictory to the above! ?? Automation and process improvement: Feedback that many Finance leaders are focusing on this area of their finance function, with a view to gaining enhanced Business Intelligence?and developing financial reporting capabilities. ? Do any of these points resonate with you? ??♀? Great news is that we have found solutions to mitigate all of the challenges we've faced, thanks to the calibre, commitment and passion of our team! We have exciting growth plans for the rest of 2024 too ↗ Sarah Livingston Tina Maguire Charlotte Nicholson Ally Mitchell Aaron Geddes Craig Smith CA Kirsty Medine Rebecca Robertson #transformingfinance #dundee #perth #fife #angus
