Most companies don’t have reproductive health training as part of their managerial learning & development plan, despite managers wanting to be trained when asked directly. According to the ongoing aggregated HeyFlow data: ?? More than 6 in 10 managers want more training on menopause ?? Nearly half of managers want more training on periods & the menstrual cycle. Training builds confidence. Confidence builds support. For more information on Reproductive Health Management Learning head over to our website: https://lnkd.in/ep6AhPRN

Menopause training?for women?+ menopause training?for managers = not the same thing. For women, training will often focus on: → The symptoms and struggles → How to manage the changes → The biology and mechanics of what they’re experiencing For managers, menopause training is better focused on: → The practicalities, not the biology → How to support women properly → How to provide support without coming across as inappropriate or invasive Many managers don’t know what support to offer, and many organisations don’t know where to start, that’s where I can help ??

I would like to invite discussion, with a view to reducing the burden on our healthcare professionals - namely GP's. What are the opinions of doctors in Australia about training 'menopause educators' in addition to perhaps nurse practitioners - whose role is to disseminate basic, but accurate and timely information to their community? If we got in on the 'ground level' with a structured and systematic approach, we could control the training and information disseminated from a creditable and trustworthy source. What could this look like? Who can and should regulate this potential new industry/health education sector? What training can be offered to upskill and register willing educators and by whom? I've spent $1,000's of dollars on training out of the U.S. and the U.K. as well as the current IMS conference to learn about menopause. I've spent hundreds of hours in my own time to read menopause books, all so I can share information with my friends, co-workers and family members - as so many women still have no real clue about what to expect or how to prepare for perimenopause and menopause. Experiences with many GP's have been sub optimal at best and close to negligent at worst. I know A LOT more than the average woman (and probably more than the average GP at the moment I'd wager). I'm a 52 year old perimenopausal woman with lived experience of the multiple challenges that midlife brings to women - beyond the physiological symptoms. As a qualified teacher of 15 years experience, I have committed to educating myself from creditable sources, but there is nowhere 'official' for my knowledge to be 'tested' or 'vetted' here in Australia. How can we enact safeguards for our community in a timely manner in an area of women's health where accurate information is so desperately needed? I think the idea of having 'go-between' trainers as an intermediary between community and GP's - who just don't have the time to spend with each patient for education about this life phase - has merit and should be considered as a real solution. In this way, women can be better informed and prepared for their GP appointment and also more able to advocate for themselves. Thoughts??

“Female-focused” tends to be how most educational resources are designed. Which is NEEDED, don’t get me wrong. It’s so important to have information out there that is accessible and comprehensive, so women can understand their symptoms and their body when they start going through menopause. But this is not what workplaces and manages need. It’s not necessary or relevant, most of the time. The detailed biology is not what we need to talk about. It’s the practicalities of how you apply yourself to helping and aiding your employees going through it. Managers need and deserve proper training, if they are going to be able to provide the right support, to the right people, in the right context, at the right time.

When I deliver colleague training in the workplace, for a lot of people it’s the first time they’ve had any kind of clear education on menopause. You may have a number of employees in your business who are going through it right now, or maybe don’t even know. This training can be invaluable for those individuals, and make all the difference between them staying in a job they love or considering leaving because they’re struggling so much with symptoms. This is what we stand for. The right education and awareness to support people in the workplace. #menopausehealth #menopauseintheworkplace #menopausesupport
