Effective Communication of Foresight Results ?? Last September 26, over 50 professionals joined online at the second Mutual Learning Event (MLE) of the Eye of Europe project to discuss policy-oriented communication of foresight results — an essential topic for translating research insights into actionable policies. Key takeaways from this event included: - The importance of clear and evidence-based communication in driving innovation within the R&I policy-making process. - The need to translate complex foresight results into relevant, easy-to-understand messages that resonate with policymakers. - The identification of key stakeholders in the policy-making process to tailor engagement strategies. - The necessity to leverage new communication tools while considering both their audience and credibility. On September 22-23, 2024, the UN’s Summit of the Future will convene in New York, serving as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance, reaffirm existing commitments including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Charter. Ahead of the Summit, the SDSN will host a high-level, two-day, Pre-Summit of the Future Conference to inform outcomes of the Summit as part of its annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD). The event will be held at Columbia University on September 20 & 21 and will feature rich discussions and esteemed keynote speakers and panels on the five core topics of the Summit of the Future, including (1) sustainable development and SDG financing; (2) peace and security; (3) governance of cutting-edge science, technology, and innovation; (4) youth and future generations; and (5) the future of multilateralism and global governance.
