The tradition of trick-or-treating has its roots in Scotland and Ireland. Long before Halloween became a celebration of candy and costumes, people in these countries would go house to house in disguise, performing tricks or songs in exchange for treats. This custom dates back to the 16th century, forming the foundation of today’s Halloween celebrations. Another example of how the American story is one of many voices, histories, and perspectives. #AmericanStory #History #CulturalExchange #Perspectives #ManyVoices #Tradition #HeartlandHumanCareServices

Let’s have a conversation about cultural APPRECIATION versus cultural APPROPRIATION. In the context of Halloween, wearing Native American costumes is often defended as a sign of cultural appreciation. However, the decision to wear cheap, reductive, and offensive replicas of our cultures on the holiday of costumes is most definitely cultural appropriation. We encourage you to show your appreciation 364 days a year by wearing Native-made clothes and accessories, but opt for a different look on Halloween so as to not embolden those who are NOT “appreciative” and continue to make a mockery of our cultures. Please note that dialogue surrounding cultural appropriation is ever-evolving, and some Native people’s opinions may differ from ours. We hope that this conversation serves as a starting point in further education and discussion on the topic. #OurCultureIsNotYourCostume #Halloween #CulturalAppreciation #CulturalAppropriation #NativeAmerican https://lnkd.in/ee9HTVNZ

?????? ???????????????????? ?????????????????? ??????????????????? While researching Halloween (celebrated on Oct 31), I came across this video by Pastor Vlad Savchuk. It is worth watching the video. Following are the salient features of the video: 1. The origins of Halloween are pagan. 2. Halloween means more than candy and costumes to those in witchcraft. 3. Halloween has not been redeemed for God. It’s darker today than it was before. 4. Celebrating Halloween is conforming to the culture. If we don’t celebrate Halloween, the world will think we are weird and don’t know how to have fun. 5. Halloween promotes darkness, death, and fear, all contrary to Christianity. 6. Halloween is having fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness. 7. Activities people engage in while celebrating Halloween don’t honor the Lord. #halloween #bible #christianity #

The way we perceive things can significantly impact our careers and businesses. Our openness to different beliefs and superstitions can influence our decision-making and adaptability. For instance, black cats are viewed differently across various cultures. While some see them as symbols of luck and prosperity, others consider them harbingers of misfortune with magical attributes. In Chinese and Japanese folklore, black cats symbolize good omens and promise new beginnings or financial luck. Similarly, many African and Native American stories portray black cats as protective guardians of the home. Despite silly superstitions, these feline companions are widely regarded as adorable rather than ominous in most cultures. Interestingly, Eastern European traditions associate black cats with bad luck and mystical powers. The dichotomy in beliefs surrounding black cats reflects the diversity of cultural perspectives worldwide. Do you believe in the superstitions surrounding black cats? Share your thoughts on whether a black cat must be entirely black or if white spots, like in my photo, can alter its symbolism. #Career #Success #Strategy #Risks #EmotionalIntelligence

Matthew Gray Gubler is the embodiment of creative and comedic genius. This made me smile and laugh out loud, plus it inspired me and made me reflect about life. There are always so many layers to everything he does, and he really puts his soul into it. Everything is deeper when you know where to look. Fun Fact: Whenever I'm curious about someone's amazing brain, I check their Human Design Chart and learn from their energy. Matthew's incarnation cross is very interesting. This is what I have found out so far (could vary since I don't have his exact time of birth, but this is the gist) Matthew Gray Gubler's Incarnation Cross of Rulership is clearly reflected in his public persona through his natural leadership, creativity, and the unique way he influences and inspires others. Here are the key traits that align with this Incarnation Cross: 1. Creative Leadership: As an actor, director, and artist, Gubler takes charge of his creative projects, leading with vision and passion. His work in Criminal Minds, as both an actor and a director, showcases his ability to guide narratives and characters with depth and originality. 2. Authentic Influence: Gubler’s quirky, authentic personality shines through in his public appearances, interviews, and social media. He leads by example, encouraging others to embrace their individuality and creativity without fear of judgment. 3. Responsibility and Impact: Whether it’s through his acting, directing, or even his books: "Rumple Buttercup: A Story of Bananas, Belonging, and Being Yourself", or "The Little Kid with the Green Big Hand: A Story of Colors, Creatures, and Connection", he uses his influence to inspire a sense of belonging and self-acceptance in his audience, fulfilling his role as a leader with a positive impact. 4. Purposeful Leadership: He doesn’t seek attention for the sake of fame but instead focuses on meaningful projects that reflect his values and inspire others. His leadership is driven by creativity, kindness, and the desire to make others feel seen and appreciated. For Gubler, his Incarnation Cross manifests in how he leads with heart and originality, showing us that true leadership comes from being authentically yourself. Hail the Gourd Lord! ?? PS: -I really hope I get to meet him one day. -If you want to know more about your own magnificent brain and your Human Design chart, I can help you out with that.

You can tell a lot about a coworker by their willingness to use someone’s preferred pronouns. First it tells you if that person will respect others who they work with or will interact with on the job. If the person will not respect another person by this very simple act of respect, how can they be trusted to treat others with respect on other topics… Will they treat those with different religious beliefs with respect? Will they respect the dietary needs of clients/patients/customers/vendors/coworkers? What other biases do they have? Willingness to use someone’s preferred pronouns is a great test of someone’s true character. This is not a new topic. The ancient Greeks used to believe that when Apollo would get drunk he would put people into a body of the wrong gender. The Talmud lists 8 different genders. Certain Native American tribes recognized those with what some people now call in English as “two-spirit”. People have had preferred pronouns for all of human history. Treat others with respect! #pride #officeculture #respect
