Feedback requested! Yesterday for #FederalHireFriday Spencer Gates and myself had a conversation on LinkedIn live discussing federal special hiring authorities and non USAjobs career paths into the federal government. For this who attend did we bring value to you? If so what conversations would you like to see? I have some ideas below: ?? federal resume writing ?? public affairs specialist in federal workforce ?? learn about different careers (job series) ?? holistic health and mental health conversation ?? unique benefits veterans receive as federal employees ?? women’s health (postpartum, pregnancy, periods, mental health, etc.) ?? federal work force culture My goal is if these are of value, to offer more conversations. They would be hosted during my lunch time and be about 30 minute conversations. #BluntBartley

Struggling to Find Quality Caregiver Candidates in Connecticut? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gT_ikkR9 #RecruitingConnecticut #CaregiverChallenges #HiringTips Hey everyone! ?? I wanted to spark a conversation about something many of us in the caregiving field are facing: recruiting in Connecticut. Does anyone else find it tough to hire quality caregivers for individuals with developmental disabilities? I've noticed a few recurring issues lately that make the recruitment process a real headache: Misrepresentation of Skills: Some candidates aren’t being honest about their experience. They might claim to have specific qualifications or skills, but when it comes time to deliver, they fall short. Transportation Trouble: A surprising number of applicants say they have a vehicle when they don’t. This not only delays service but can also lead to increased frustration within the team. Workplace Issues: Even those who make it through the hiring process sometimes create disruption within our organization, impacting morale and client care. So why do we keep running into these problems? ?? High Demand, Low Supply: The need for caregivers is consistently rising, which ca...

While we are helping older adults stay independent and autonomous, our data shows that when the adult child initiates an account, they spend double (that means just a few times a week for an hour or two). That little bit of backup can make a big difference in keeping caregivers in the workforce. That’s exactly what our founder was solving for when founding Naborforce - a resource for older adults and their family caregivers to bridge that gap until home care is needed. #caregiving #sandwichgeneration #career #employeebenefits

?? How many of you are balancing a full-time job while caring for older family members? You're not alone. Research reveals that 29 million workers juggle work and caregiving duties, spending around 20 hours a week on unpaid care. Yet, many face career sacrifices like rejecting promotions or opting for less demanding roles. With limited eldercare support in company benefits, working caregivers encounter challenges, some even navigating performance discussions with their bosses. Let's raise awareness and support those managing this delicate balance! This is a true challenge for many!???? #Caregiving #WorkLifeBalance #SupportingCaregivers https://lnkd.in/gkkVn2Pm

De-junking some old emails around the time I had my daughter (after 3 rounds of Fertility treatment) and had asked for some flexibility in my work week. The top emails were the back and to between me and my then line manager with the sticking point being (and I don't joke!) 30 minutes on a Friday. 30 minutes. 30 minutes that had been left uncovered for the entire 13 months of my maternity leave but now was absolutely essential that I had to cover. The subsequent emails underneath were : ??Confirmation of job applications following this refusal. 16 in total. ?? Diarised appointments with agencies over the following weeks to talk about opportunities. ?? An appointment with a career coach These emails tell my story. They tell a story of frustration and annoyance that somewhere I had worked for for 7 years was potentially willing to let me go because of a 30 minute flex. The crazy thing is, I'm not alone. The long term damage these actions have are real and they are detrimental to everyone involved. Next time you are asked something by an employee instead of thinking. why you 'can't', take a moment to consider the art of the possible. I promise it's worth it!
