In today's world, there is need for addressing a crucial gap in support for our children. The challenges they face today require a holistic approach involving both the school system and parents. Providing a safe space for open dialogue on sensitive topics like sexuality and mental health is essential. Events like the empowerED students extravaganza can play a vital role in empowering our youth with valuable life skills and support networks. Encouraging them to participate is a step towards addressing these multifaceted challenges. What makes Small World Play so powerful in therapy? ? Small world play involves using miniature figures and objects to build scenes and tell stories in a sand tray, allowing children to express emotions they may not yet have the words for. ?? Our Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Helen Robins, says: "When children struggle to verbalise their feelings, small world figures (miniatures) can symbolise their world. They develop a story in metaphor, often reflecting an underlying difficulty. As therapists, we observe with curiosity and help children work through those challenges by understanding what we see."
