When a DuckTales reboot was announced in 2017 I was more than a little nervous. DuckTales was a huge part of my childhood. In fact, when I asked how long I would have to be at the store running errands with my Mother she would often tell me we'd be there for roughly 2 DuckTales so I had a frame of reference before I could tell time. Just like Scrooge McDuck diving into his gold vault the reboot dove into the rich history of the original series. It honored the classics and the legacy of the Disney Afternoon while introducing fresh, dynamic characters—creating a show that resonates with new audiences and rewards longtime fans. ?? Here’s what we can learn from our feathered friends about building stellar teams: Respect the Legacy: Just as the reboot acknowledged the foundations of the original series, we should honor the legacy of our organizations. Recognize the contributions of long-time employees and the values that built your company. Embrace New Talent: The reboot brought in new characters and fresh storylines, much like we should bring in new talent with diverse perspectives. Innovation and growth come from welcoming fresh ideas and skills. Value Your Team: Whether it’s seasoned employees or new hires, their support and enthusiasm are priceless. First generation Special Operations Forces (SOF) Global War on Terror (GWOT) veterans have been out for nearly a decade now... (A decade!!) And the second generation's been out for 3-5 years or so. Some of us found our way into the corporate world, some of us built our own companies, others are holding down a day job while building a business on the side... We've got ex-SEALs building multimillion-dollar brands on YouTube... Ex-Green Berets writing screenplays that have been scheduled for shooting through Sony... Veterans from both sides in Congress... We're up to some cool stuff. Those of us who landed in the corporate world are generally thriving, and many of us are ready for that next step but we've hit a roadblock. - We know we'd make an excellent Director, if only we had a little more digital migration domain expertise... - We know we'd make a great VP of Sales, if only we had a little more time managing P&L... - We know we've got the instincts and people skills to scale the family-run home services company that just came up for sale in Peoria... But we also know we need someone in our corner - a mentor with direct experience - to keep us from crashing the plane. Thing is, not all of us have the network to support taking a leap that big. And while we're pretty good at "figuring it out", there's no reason to do that when mentors are available and willing to help. Enter Black Powder Search. We see the gap our SOF GWOT veterans are standing in front of and we know what they need help with to make the leap. We also see the sticking points companies struggle with when it comes to hiring SOF vets. So we're building two communities. The first is a pool of #triplevetted #leadershiptalent - degreed SOF veterans with a track record of success in business who are ready to step into leadership roles at their current company or a new one. The second is a community of companies that understand the value SOF veterans bring to the table and would like access to our proprietary talent pool of triple-vetted candidates. The idea being to work with both sides during and after placement to ensure long-term success. There are a ton of resources for #transitioningservicemembers now... But few resources for #veterans after they've been out for a few years and need some help climbing the ladder or moving on to the next thing. We're here to fix that.
