Memorial Day in Orange County is more than just barbecues and parades. It's a time to honor our heroes and come together as a community. ???? I remember last year, helping a retired couple downsize to a home that perfectly fit their new lifestyle. During our conversation, they shared their excitement about the local Memorial Day celebrations. It reminded me how deeply we are all connected by our history and our shared values. For many of us, especially baby boomers and retirees, moving can feel like a daunting task. But it's also an opportunity to create new traditions and embrace the vibrant culture of Orange County. Here are a few ways you can make the most of Memorial Day while transitioning to a new home: ? Attend local parades and events: Join the community in honoring our veterans. It's a great way to meet neighbors and feel a sense of belonging. ? Organize a barbecue: Invite your new neighbors over. Nothing breaks the ice like sharing stories over good food. ? Visit local landmarks: Explore Orange County's historical sites. It’s a perfect way to appreciate our rich heritage. ? Give Back: Participate in community service events. It’s a fulfilling way to honor the spirit of Memorial Day. As you celebrate, remember that every home we help find is a step towards building strong, connected communities. How are you celebrating Memorial Day in your community this year? Share your plans below and let’s honor this special day together. #MemorialDay #Community #RealEstate #BabyBoomers #OrangeCounty

Throw back photo of the day. On this day, we honored an invitation from the Vice Chancellor of York St John University to plan, organise the black history month for the University Part of the activities was an exhibition of Nduka Omeife's works. This picture was taken at the London campus. As I reflect on this today , I strongly hold two big reasons to volunteer and these are ?? 1. Making a Positive Impact: Volunteering allows you to contribute meaningfully to your community, address societal needs, and bring about positive change. Whether it's mentoring, supporting vulnerable populations, or organizing events, your efforts can leave a lasting legacy. ?? 2. Personal Growth and Fulfillment: Volunteering helps you develop new skills, build meaningful relationships, and gain a sense of purpose. It can also deepen your empathy and broaden your perspective, enriching your life in profound ways. And the experience you gain from Volunteering is yours to keep and grow thereby. Have you volunteered recently? Share with us Bethel Omeife 10times Better

For my Friends in the DC Metro area: Imagine the anguish of a parent who wants nothing more than for their child to be understood, accepted, and given the same opportunities as others. For so many families, finding a place where their child’s unique needs are not just met, but embraced, feels impossible. The National Children's Center (NCC) has been a beacon of hope for these families for 65 years. It’s where children who were once isolated and misunderstood found a community that saw their potential and celebrated their progress. Yet, the journey to this place of acceptance is often filled with pain. The pain of watching a child struggle in environments not built for them. The pain of feeling like you’re always fighting an uphill battle to ensure they receive the support they need. And for some, the heartbreaking realization that their child may never have the opportunities that others take for granted. But NCC offers something rare: a place where these battles don’t have to be fought alone. It’s a sanctuary where families find the support, understanding, and resources they need to help their children flourish. This gala is more than just a celebration of 65 years; it’s a reminder of all the work that still needs to be done, of the countless children who still need that sanctuary. By supporting NCC, you’re not just attending an event—you’re giving hope to families who need it the most. You’re helping to build a future where every child, no matter their abilities, can thrive. Join us in making that future a reality. Learn more about the gala and how you can help. https://lnkd.in/ebEFRAwg

Friends and Colleagues, As many of you know, I am a passionate Board Member for Dallas Pets Alive! One of the biggest fundraising events for us is TODAY, North Texas Giving Day. Our goal today is to raise $115,000 so we can continue our amazing life-saving work! If you’re looking to give back, please consider donating to Dallas Pets Alive. Every bit helps and makes a big impact! ?? Thank you for your support! ?? https://lnkd.in/gsZdDbjw More about Dallas Pets Alive: Your support during North Texas Giving Day is not just a donation; it's a lifeline. Every gift you make goes directly to programs that are transforming the lives of animals and their humans. Our Foster and Adoption program is a beacon of hope for the most at-risk animals in our partner shelters, while our preventative programs—like PASS, Dogs Matter, and Bark Dorm—work tirelessly to keep pets out of shelters and in loving homes. These initiatives are not just about rescue; they're about building healthier, stronger communities where animals and people thrive together. The need is urgent. Many of the pets that come into our care have medical conditions so severe that shelters simply can't provide the care they need. Over a third of the animals we help are Major Medical Cases, requiring $1,000 or more in medical expenses. In 2023 alone, we spent more than $400,000 on treatments ranging from basic vaccinations to heartworm treatment and life-saving surgeries. This year, as we've taken on the incredible work of Dogs Matter and face the overwhelming overcrowding in North Texas shelters, the number of animals in our care has more than doubled. For the first time, we have more than 500 animals relying on our programs. While we've made strides in fundraising, the financial demands have outpaced our resources.
Every year, amazing supporters like you come together for Dallas Pets Alive on North Texas Giving Day. Your contributions are indispensable; they fuel our ability rescue animals and transform lives. We need your support now more than ever! This is our Excutive Director, Leslie Sans with one of our adoptable dogs, Sparkles, to remind you that you have the power to save lives. There is no donation too small — every little bit makes a world of difference to a pet in need. https://lnkd.in/dkrKMr2G https://lnkd.in/gGBFxgpw
Happy North Texas Giving Day!

?? What I learned Volunteering at Scout Camp ?? During the past weekend, I had the opportunity to reflect on my summer. I volunteered as an adult leader at Camp Royaneh, a scout camp nestled deep in the Redwoods. At the closing campfire, the adult leaders were recognized. ?? But I took away something even more meaningful. A couple of years ago, one of my scouts twisted his ankle on the first day! ?? He was slower than everyone else. Discomfort and frustration! ?? Faced with navigating the large camp on crutches, he considered asking his parents to pick him up. ?? But fellow scouts, adults, and camp staff rallied around him, offering him support and encouragement. “We see and recognize your struggle – keep going!” Ultimately, he chose to stay and to push through, ending the week feeling very proud. He had grown through overcoming adversity. ?? Can you remember something similar at work? When faced with an unexpected setback, a new team member might decide that "this is not for me" OR that "I am going to get through this." Peers and leaders – we all can have significant influence. ?But it takes effort, just like slowing down to accompany a fellow scout on crutches. #Perseverance #Teamwork #YouthDevelopment #GrowthMindset

This Memorial Day, as we honor those who have served and sacrificed, let’s also reflect on the habits that shape our lives. Gratitude Practice: Take a moment to express gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy. Write down three things you’re thankful for today. Connect with Loved Ones: Spend quality time with family and friends. Strengthen those bonds with meaningful conversations and shared memories. Active Remembrance: Engage in an activity that honors the spirit of service. Whether it’s volunteering, attending a ceremony, or simply going for a walk to reflect, make it a habit to give back. Mindful Moment: Pause for a few minutes to meditate or breathe deeply. Reflect on the values of courage and resilience that Memorial Day represents. Let’s create habits that not only honor the past but also build a brighter future. https://guidedsteps.net/
