This is a very informative and useful article, Harry Uglow ???? It`s helpful to write a draft with AI tool help. But we shouldn`t forget to add our personal "human touch" to it. I enjoyed reading your article, Harry. I even start to think I should use AI sometimes too ?? Maybe you can advise me on some of the cool tools but except ChatGPT (I`m not a fan of it)?

Thank you for sharing this example. I agree that using GenAI to help assess periodic and YE performance will be a game changer, especially for those who have to provide a large number of assessments each cycle. But we absolutely must establish rules to limit the use of AI to improving the assessment process rather than replacing it. However, there is definitely a place for AI in this process. I'd now like to use AI to facilitate the annual objective-setting process. You can then complete the performance cycle: 1. Annual Goals & Objectives 2. Periodic feedback or other inputs such as peer feedback, e-mail, etc. 3. Review of full-year or a specific period In this scenario, simply ask the AI to analyze periodic data and other specific parameters in relation to the goals or objectives set in point 1, and then structure a performance review. The key is to have point 2 completed throughout the review cycle, and not to rely on the AI to invent things. Having a ready-made performance draft for each colleague would save us a lot of time every year!

This is definitely the way to leverage AI when you dealing with a mental block. Talking out loud freelyand recording it as part of the process is the true game changer.

9 个月As promised, here's the full prompt I used: I'm writing a performance review for my colleague {NAME}. We are both software engineers and work together in a team of 2. There is also a data scientist that we work closely with. I have to answer the following 3 questions: 1. In respect of the period H2 2023, what did this person do well? 2. In respect of the period H2 2023, where could this person have been more effective? 3. Any additional comments I recorded myself discussing H2 informally and a transcriber has made notes on some of the topics discussed. Both the notes and the full transcription are attached. All words are mine, talking about my colleague. Please adapt the transcript into my answers to the above 3 questions. The answers should be as though I wrote them. Split the answers into sections with the question as the header. Do not use bullet points. Each paragraph of an answer should discuss only a single topic. There should be as many paragraphs as are needed to cover all the relevant points raised. Elaborate on the points I have raised. Try to include each topic in no more than one answer. Try to emulate my speaking style. Use phrases from the transcript where appropriate, keeping tone appropriate for a formal review.
