How many pumpkins can you fit in a gaylord box and on your porch? Over the last week, many of you were introduced to gaylord boxes, as you helped to fill over 10 with essential supplies for Happy Dirt farmer-owner Sanford Fishel's community in WNC! Want to know what comes to Happy Dirt in gaylord boxes? PUMPKINS! And, they are grown by Sanford. Each year, Sanford grows heirloom pumpkins, warty goblin pumpkins, and carving pumpkins for Happy Dirt. While Hurricane Helene did damage Sanford's farm, the pumpkins made it through, as they were resting in fields that were higher in elevation. So, what does this mean? The more pumpkins you buy for your porch, the more pumpkins Sanford can bring to Raleigh on his box truck, and the more essential supplies we can send back with him for his community! It's also another way to help us support Sanford's farm in general. Where to find Sanford's pumpkins? ?? The Bradford Market in Huntersville, NC ?? The Durham Co-op Market in Durham, NC ?? Rebus Works in Raleigh, NC ?? Local Jo's Natural Foods in Mt. Pleasant, SC ?? Low Country Street Grocery in Charleston, SC ?? Sevananda Natural Foods Market in Atlanta, GA Sanford will come regardless, as long as his community needs him and us, but we know he would say he might as well bring more pumpkins if the people want them!

Thank you everyone for the overwhelming support ?? from the friends who showed up, to the phone calls, gift cards, home cooked meals, a vehicle to use, tools, trailers, clothes, and supplies! It truly is great to see the community come together and support eachother so strongly after Hurricane Helene. Alexa, Kelly, Taylor, Brittney, Eric, Stefany, Tim, Richie, Julie & the Cox girls. We love yall so much and owe you a lot ?? we have something special planned for all yall once we get back to normal. WTF HAPPENED: Complacency.... plain and simple. This storm caught too many people off guard, leaving many people in the Tampa area unprepared. Why?! We've had Cat3s and Cat4s much closer to shore that rained for days and did far less damage, even during high tide super moons. From St Pete Beach, this storm was 150 miles offshore and only a Cat3 (when it passed us) and it did not rain at all that day until late evening. At night, it barely rained too... It wasn't the rain nor a super high tide (like past storms), this was SURGE AND IT ROSE FAAAAST... Around 730pm the water was not too bad, then within the next hour the water rose very quickly, faster than anything we've ever seen. It went from all good, to WTF water rushing into the house within 30 minutes. FYI sandbags didn't help bc the water just went right over the top (bc the water never flooded this high before in Tampa's entire recorded history). From a safety perspective, at least we had ready a gobag, life vests, a ladder (to get on roof if needed), and other storm-prep items ready to go and easily accessable. Next on the list is a kayak (just in case). Never again will we not be prepared. Never again will we be complacent. Work Plan & Progress: Sunday: items removed Monday: Demolition Tuesday-Friday: Sanitize & Dry Once the house is healthy, then we start constructing with Coastal Building Creations. We lost nearly everything inside our house and both vehicles are totaled too... but at least we're safe and healthy ???? Once our house is dry, I'll be helping neighbors!!!

Unprecedented Weather Emergencies. Hurricane Helene. Hurricane Milton. Please, please, please take your pets with you. You can make decisions for yourself. Pets cannot. I’ve been through several flooding evacuations. I see what happens if you leave pets behind. Hurricane Katrina is evidence of that. Many companies in the pet industry genuinely care and give back and are helping out. The Pet Taxi? “With Milton strengthening, we want to ensure everyone is prepared—especially our pet families. While the storm might not pose a severe threat to most of our area on the southeast of Florida, low-lying areas and flood plains may need to think about evacuating. We’ve got crates and carriers ready, and we can provide transportation if you need help getting your pets to safety.” Pet King Brands: Maker of ZYMOX and Oratene Pet King Brands, the makers of ZYMOX? ear and skin care solutions, actively supports animals and shelters affected by Hurricane Helene's devastation and those preparing for Hurricane Milton's impact. As a company dedicated to pet health and well-being, ZYMOX is committed to providing immediate aid to organizations caring for animals in the hardest-hit regions. To increase the impact of these relief efforts, ZYMOX is calling on its customers to participate in a fundraising initiative: Discount & Donation Code: Customers can use the code SAVE10HELP10 at checkout on ZYMOX.com to receive 10% off their order, while 10% of October sales will be donated to hurricane relief efforts for the areas most affected by these disasters. #petindustry #helpingpets #hurricanehelene #hurricanemilton #givingback

In honor of good ole' hurricane season and this nurse/mama is from Florida... and the potential for the power to go out because of it, I felt that this post was something that you may need to keep on hand. I want to start out by saying that you do not need a big breast milk stash. On average, you really only need about 2 days' worth of breast milk in the freezer. ? ? But with that being said, some mamas have way more than that. ? ? ???? Comment on any Instagram post with the word #stash and we’ll send you a breast milk stash guide, a link, and a discount code ????? ? With all the storms happening, it's important to know how to keep your breast milk stash safe if the power goes out. (This is if you don't have a generator)? ? A full freezer will maintain temperature for 48 hours, and a half-full freezer will maintain temperature for 24 hours. So what does that mean? If you have a half full freezer, or your freezer isn't completely full, you're going to want to take gallon freezer bags and fill them up with water, and put them in the freezer. These will act as ice packs to keep your breast milk stash safe and keep your freezer full to maintain that temperature longer. ? ? DO NOT OPEN YOUR FREEZER! Every time you open it, you'll let out the precious cold that is keeping your stash frozen. ? ? In addition to this, if you are an exclusive pumper, be sure to have a manual pump for when you don't have power. Have an ice chest filled with ice packs and/or dry ice. Freshly pumped milk is good for up to 5 days when on ice. ? ? Have clean water on hand to wash bottles and pump parts. Remember, during a natural disaster, clean water from your pipes may not be an option. ? ? Lastly, thawed breastmilk needs to be used within 24 – 48 hours after the last ice crystal melts, and you cannot re-freeze fully thawed breastmilk. If there are ice crystals still in the milk, then you can re-freeze it. ? ? Do you have more tips? Please add them to the comments. ?

Here are some ways to connect with local investors and property managers to provide hurricane relief supplies for middle Georgia.
Property Manager & Realtor | Offering investors simple, straightforward property management with southern hospitality.
We need your help! PMI Georgia is partnering with the Atlanta Chapter of NARPM to collect Hurricane Relief items for Middle Georgia. "In the wake of last week's devastation from Hurricane Helene, we are asking for your help! Middle Georgia still remains without power, and as recently as yesterday, the area was informed that it is very possible it will be at least another week—maybe longer—before they have power again. We have spoken with the State Senator who represents District 19, Toombs County, and surrounding areas. Toombs County is serving as the central supply hub for this area and is conducting deliveries throughout the week of basic necessities—food, clean water, personal hygiene products, baby needs, etc. These items continue to go extremely fast and are constantly running low." We are collecting the following items in our office by Thursday, Oct. 10th and 5pm. Come drop off supplies and say hello to our amazing staff. Our office is located at 170 Greencastle Rd in Tyrone. I will be delivering the items to the Home Depot HQ on Paces Ferry if you would like to connect with me. -Toilet paper -Can openers -Paper towel rolls -Diapers any size -Baby wipes -Soap -Adult toothbrush -Child toothbrush -Adult toothpaste -Child toothpaste -Child soap -Feminine products -Plastic tote/tub -Ziplock bags -Canned goods

The devastation in Western North Carolina caused by Hurricane Helene is unimaginable. My heart goes out to everyone affected, and I’m grateful for the tireless efforts of first responders, volunteers, and local, state, and national agencies working around the clock to help those impacted. Amid the devastation, it’s heartening to see companies like Baxter International Inc. stepping up. Their facility in Marion, N.C., a major supplier of IV fluids, was severely impacted, covered in mud with damaged roads and bridges cutting off access. Despite the challenges, Baxter's first priority was to reach out to their employees. Instead of just sending thoughts and prayers, they’ve used ATVs to check on colleagues in hard-to-reach areas and set up an employee support center to provide supplies, even delivering essentials to those who can’t make it to the center. While working to support their employees, they’ve also brought in 500 workers, with more on the way, to repair the facility and ensure hospitals continue receiving the critical supplies they need. In a time when we often hear of businesses putting profits before people, Baxter’s response shows how corporations can rise to the occasion and do right by both their employees and the public. It’s truly heartening to see this kind of leadership in action. #HurricaneHelene #Leadership #Healthcare https://lnkd.in/ep8u4QxC

- Update on Hurricane Helene Impact - Our thoughts are with all those affected by Hurricane Helene, especially our ArborGen team and their families. We are doing all we can to support our people and would like to thank them for their incredible efforts, both prior to the storm and in the clean-up and salvage. While the teams are still assessing the impact of the storm, we can advise that the crop for FY25 is mostly unaffected. There was minimal crop damage at ArborGen’s Bellville Nursery in Georgia, demonstrating the value of ArborGen’s investment in container planting. Some damage to trees has been sustained at two of our orchards which will result in a lower seed harvest in FY25 and following years. These are smaller orchards representing around 30% of our FY25 coastal MCP? expected seed harvest. It is currently at the start of the harvest season, after which we will have a clearer idea of the impact on its seed inventory. We have sufficient inventory to meet projected customer demand. We have also been reaching out to customers, with many forests devastated by flooding, mud and landslides and strong winds.?
