?? As we gear up for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans' Caesars Superdome, let's look at some fascinating numbers that show just how massive this event has become: The upcoming game marks the Superdome's 8th time hosting—more than any other stadium in history. Beyond the game itself, Super Bowl LVIII saw $17.3 billion in consumer spending, with the average fan spending $86.04 on everything from snacks to team gear. Here's a surprising stat: 17% of viewers tune in just for the commercials - and at $7 million for a 30-second spot in 2024, advertisers are betting big on capturing those eyeballs! Whether you're watching for the game, the ads, or the halftime show, these numbers remind us that the Super Bowl has evolved far beyond sports into a cultural and economic phenomenon that touches multiple sectors of our economy. ?? #SuperBowl #SuperBowlLIX #BusinessOfSports https://lnkd.in/ef3aZ85a

https://lnkd.in/ePt5GV8i In recent years, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has seen a notable decline in viewership. To put it in perspective, the 1998 NBA Finals averaged nearly 29 million viewers, while recent Finals have often hovered around the 10–12 million mark. This trend isn’t just about changing consumer habits; it’s also improving accessibility. Fans are often faced with expensive streaming options, regional blackouts, and rising ticket/concession prices—all of which create friction for the consumer. That’s why I love this new initiative by the Phoenix Suns. Today, the Suns announced a value menu at Footprint Center (see article below), lowering the price of concessions to make the in-arena experience more affordable for families. Earlier this year, the Suns terminated their partnership with Bally Sports and are now broadcasting games on local television stations. The decision cost the Suns millions in guaranteed money but at least doubles their reach to 2 million households. These moves signal a broader product strategy of reducing friction and meeting fans where they are. Product teams in any industry can take a page from this playbook. By removing barriers—be it pricing or accessibility—organizations can reconnect with their audience and build a more loyal fan base. This isn’t just about sports; it’s about rethinking product delivery to serve people, not just profits. Anyways, let's go Knicks.

According to advance booking data from Guideline, which captures actual agency investment from the six major U.S. holding companies as well as most of the large independent shops, the average unit cost for the three Thanksgiving Day games on CBS, Fox and NBC works out to nearly $1.5 million per each 30-second spot. https://lnkd.in/egZyPch8

Are Sports Bars truly data-driven? ?? Large sports bar franchises may pride themselves on being data-driven, but they're missing a crucial piece of the puzzle. While they rely heavily on point-of-sale data, they often overlook guests' TV content preferences. This oversight leads many owners and managers to believe they understand their guests' preferences without concrete data. Enter Pubtelly! ?? Our platform captures extensive data on content preferences and guest behaviors, providing a wealth of insights for better decision-making. It's time for sports bars to elevate their approach by embracing true data-driven strategies. ?? #DataScience #CustomerInsights #BusinessIntelligence #BuffaloWildWings #WalkOns #SportsBars
