Here are 5 facts about cord blood you should know, by Shira Reiner Registered Nurse 1. Cord blood is fetal blood that remains in the umbilical cord arteries after the delivery, after the cord is clamped and cut. The blood drawn and collected after clamping and until the placenta exits the woman's body. 2. Cord blood is an excellent source of hematopoietic stem cells which can be used as a replacement for a bone marrow donation in a bone marrow transplant. Cord blood is less likely to cause Graft vs Host Disease than bone marrow. 3. If you didn't bank any cord blood, you get a donation in certain circumstances. 4. You can buy cord blood in a few select places around the world. However, this is very expensive, so if it's an option, make sure to bank cord blood in every birth you will have in the future. 5. Cord blood can be used in the treatment of a variety of conditions, syndromes, and injuries. In some cases in might be better to use other types of stem cells for the treatment. We have used cord blood to treat autism and epilepsy, and we have helped many children with cerebral palsy reach treatment. The variety of conditions that can benefit from a cord blood injection is very wide. It is important to note that the treatment for most conditions we handle are considered experimental which is why the costs are not currently covered by any health insurance policies. if you'd like to contact us to consult regarding cord blood or stem cell therapy please send Hagai an email at: [email protected] You are welcome to join our Facebook group for support from us or other parents and patients that have been to these kinds of treatments: https://lnkd.in/dVWHCbY9 #stemcelltherapy #stemcells #cordblood #medicaltourism #autism #cerebralpalsy #epilepsy #medicalresearch #medicine #cordbloodbanking #birth #birthing #umbilicalcord #placenta #celltherapy

TOPIC: BURDEN OF CYSTIC FIBROSIS IN CHILDREN *DEFINITION: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is?a genetic (inherited) disease that causes sticky, thick mucus to build up in organs, including the lungs and the pancreas. ** SYMTOMS:Pain areas:?in the abdomen *Pain types:?can be burning in the chest *Cough:?can be chronic, with blood, or with phlegm *Gastrointestinal:?diarrhoea, fat in stool, severe constipation, or bulky stools *Respiratory:?pulmonary hypertension, shortness of breath, sinusitis, or wheezing *Developmental:?delayed development, delayed puberty, or slow growth *Whole body:?fatigue or inability to exercise *Also common:?acute bronchitis, deformity of nails, infection, male infertility, nasal polyps, pneumonia, salty sweat, or weight loss ** CAUSE:An inherited life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices. It causes these fluids to become thick and sticky. They then plug up tubes, ducts and passageways. ** DIAGNOSIS:A sweat test checks for high levels of chloride in your sweat. The sweat test is the standard test for diagnosing cystic fibrosis. It may be used if you have symptoms that could indicate cystic fibrosis or to confirm a positive diagnosis from a screening of your newborn baby. ** TREATMENT:Airway clearance techniques help loosen lung??mucus??so it can be cleared, reducing infections and improving breathing. The techniques may include special ways to breathe and cough, devices used by mouth, therapy vests that use vibrations to loosen mucus, and chest physical therapy. These techniques are often used along with medicines such as bronchodilators (medicines that open up the airways) and mucus thinners. ** MEDICATIONS: *ANTIBIOTICS *ANTI INFLAMMATORY MEDICINES *BRONCHODILATORS *SURGERY ** Surgery may be needed for people with advanced conditions. A?lung transplant?may help people with severe lung disease and?respiratory failure. A?liver transplant?may be an option for advanced liver disease such as?cirrhosis. #RaiseAgainstAutism #PinnacleSaysItAll #PinnacleBloomsNetwork #1AutismTherapyCentresNetwork

Following on from my ‘MH reaction to diagnosis and the side effects of hormone treatment’ post, questions have been raised as to why I didn't opt for removal of my prostate gland. I did ask my consultant about it and the pros and cons were discussed, but the over riding issue was his concern over other health matters, comorbidity. I think one or two of you out there have mentioned prostate surgery being refused because of existing heart matters etc. In December 22, about 4/5 months before my PC diagnosis, I had an episode at home which I thought was just labyrinthitis causing me to feel dizzy, but which actually turned out to be a very minor TIA (transient ischaemic attack) a bloody stroke! Me? I have always been fit and healthy, I'm 5' 10" and usually weigh about 81kg (86 at the moment- drugs) This was nothing to do with furry arteries nor a dodgy heart. It appears that I have some bone growth (spurs) on 2 vertebrae in my neck which are causing an occlusion to an artery in the left side of my neck- likely old injury scarring. I have had 3 major accidents in my life. A high speed bike accident (40mph) where my head and neck took the brunt of the force on landing- this was when I was 15, so pre helmets While attempting the 3 peaks challenge for the second time, a high speed (75mph) car crash in 1984 where we hit 5 trees, just as well they were there or we would have drowned in Loch Lomond. ?? Another VERY high speed car crash (95 mph) in a rally car - passenger/nav. This was in January 1990 - as for crashes, certainly the best of the bunch and a very near thing considering the speed, upside down nature of most of it and the dry stone walls involved. Considering all I guess that I am lucky to still be alive. So really, as I said in my earlier post, the prostate cancer diagnosis didn't worry me as it would probably take years to kill me. Those accidents all had the potential to end my life in a split second. The 1990 crash has caused me to have a lot of neck issues. But I had put my neck through a lot of trauma since mid teens Because my record stated TIA, it precluded any prostate surgery As I’m 100% ok, I said I’d sign as many disclaimers as was needed, but no, it wasn't even being discussed at the multi discipline team meetings ' the most important predictor of perioperative stroke is a previous history of stroke and outcomes associated with such an event are extremely poor' Now I'm grateful, because some of the side effects of surgery can be long lasting, ED, incontinence etc. I have been told that my waterworks will continue to operate as normal and other things will return to normal ?? But time will prove if it's risky strategy I mention all of this because even the operation can be avoided if PC is caught early enough. If caught at stage 1, you will probably only undergo active surveillance initially and ditto for stage 2. For those guys within the correct demographic, CATCH IT EARLY!! GET TESTED!! Breast cancer survival has doubled in the last 50 years in the UK. Increased awareness leading to earlier detection, and better screening have played a major role in this. Regular screening for changes in your breasts is an essential part of good breast health. Changes such as lumps, discolouration, bleeding from the nipple, rashes or?puckering of the skin could all indicate more serious issues such as cancer. Check also for changes in size, shape, or symmetry. Look at yourself with your hands by your side, then press your hands on your hips and look at your breasts. You're looking for changes in size, shape and symmetry at this point. Raise your arms over your head and, using your fingertips, feel in a circular motion all around your breast. Feel under your arm. Feel behind your nipple. If you find something that wasn't there before, contact your GP or health clinic. Remember, not all changes indicate cancer; hormone and nutritional imbalances can also cause breasts to be lumpy and painful. However, it is always better to be safe than sorry, so if you have any doubts, get checked by a professional. ?????????? ???? ????????: ?????? ?????? ???????????? ????????????, ??????. TO CELEBRATE CANCER SURVIVORS DAY My platform is medication adherence. It is a critical variable in improving health outcomes for cancer survivors, especially for those managing chronic conditions like diabetes. Ensuring that cancer survivors consistently take their prescribed medications as directed can significantly reduce the risk of complications and enhance their overall quality of life. I only provide solutions, not excuses. Personalized patient education can instill the importance of their medications and how to take them correctly. Incorporating a structured protocol- a standard set of questions that benchmark a patients level of adherence and follows that patient over time through a tailored intervention offers proven results. Involving family members or caregivers in the medication management process can provide extra support and accountability. The MMAS digital intervention program can be customized and has been validated for a number of medical conditions in numerous languages including: OS-MMAS (Osteoporosis Specific) P-MMAS (Pediatric) WD-MMAS (Wilsons Disease) BC-MMAS (Breast Cancer) COPD CKD Many specific medications as well

Have you ever contemplated the effectiveness of SGLT2 inhibitors in elderly or frail patients suffering from type 2 diabetes and heart failure? A systematic review and meta-analysis has shed significant light on this topic. Whilst SGLT2 inhibitors do not notably decrease HbA1c levels, they are indeed making a substantial difference - mitigating all-cause mortality, cardiac death, and hospitalisation due to heart failure. The caveat in this review? Their impact on macrovascular events, the progression of renal diseases, and other serious complications remains minimal in the frail elderly. These inhibitors are not leading to an increase in thromboembolic events or diabetic ketoacidosis in the frail elderly. This study underlines the imperative for clinicians to look beyond mere 'glycemic control'. SGLT2 inhibitors, owing to their potential cardiovascular benefits, could potentially revolutionise the treatment of elderly or frail patients afflicted by heart failure. Our pursuit of knowledge does not end here. It is paramount to undertake further research to evaluate the long-term effects and safety of SGLT2 inhibitors in these susceptible populations. It is essential to adopt a multidisciplinary strategy when making decisions about managing older individuals or those with frailty who have both Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Heart Failure. Moreover, factors such as co-morbidities, disability, frailty, expected lifespan, patient preferences, and treatment objectives should all be taken into account when devising a treatment strategy for this demographic. Your thoughts are valuable to this ongoing discourse. Do share your insights or experiences on using SGLT2 inhibitors in the comments. Also, don't forget to like, share this post with your peers and follow for more updates on this significant subject. Let's start a conversation that could potentially change lives. #sglt2inhibitors #frailelderly #geriatrics #heartfailure #journalreview
