“Plug everything in” they say… but is now the right time for that approach when our country’s #electricity is generated from 6??0?? percent fossil fuels? ??In his book Mike explains: “In other words, when you plug something “new” in (added electrical consumption), you don’t personally affect the amount generated by renewables, because they are already going flat out. Rather, what you trigger is almost certain to be a lump of coal thrown into a power station, or a puff of gas going into a turbine”. ?? ??Is now the time to change-out that working gas furnace, dryer, stove, and car, replacing them with their electricially powered counterparts which will be plugged into our existing electrical grid? ??While I’m for sustainability and the renewable generation of power to help fuel America, is now the time for mass implementation of electric appliance retrofits, or in the short term might we do more harm than good? ??Should we shape-up our electrical grid first? ?
