50% of IIT Delhi grads are skipping traditional jobs. What about today’s students? Career paths aren’t what they used to be—and they shouldn’t be. According to IIT Delhi’s latest exit survey: ?? 8.4% of grads chose self-employment. ?? 13.5% opted for higher education like PhDs. ?? 12.1% are preparing for civil services. ?? Only 53.1% are heading into corporate jobs. What does this reveal about today’s students? It’s a clear reminder that one size does NOT fit all. Every student has unique goals, challenges, and strengths. What works for one might not work for another—and that’s perfectly fine. #rightguidance #careerplanning #studentsuccess #futureofwork #personalizedcareers #IITdelhi #careerchoices

Unplaced students are dealing with stress, anxiety and hopelessness staring at the bleak future prospects due to the poor job placement scenario. Earnest appeal to various stakeholders: To, Parents: Please provide "emotional support" to your child who might not be placed yet or might have not received very high package. Please back them up emotionally. To, Alumni: Please provide career related guidance to the jobseekers. Best would be if you could give referrals. Your help will be most appreciated. To, IITs: Please allow the unplaced students to sit in the next placement season. They deserve a second chance. Hopefully hiring scenario will improve by then. Also, please leverage 30,000-50,000 alumni base to get work opportunities for the unplaced students. To, Students: Please try to accept a job offer as getting employed is more important in a down market than maximising CTC which is done in up market. Improve CV, skills levels, learn to do networking and seek job stability over high CTC initially. First gain experience and visibility in job. Value will come later. Don't chase savings in first job in a down market. Market changes with time. Down market this year can change into Up market later. Make "good" decisions as per market cycles. Hon. The placement process at IIT Bombay for 2024 has concluded, with the average annual salary expected to reach Rs 23.5 lakh, marking a slight increase from last year's Rs 21.8 lakh. While this growth is encouraging, it's crucial to address a concerning trend: several offers were significantly below this average, with 10 students accepting jobs in the Rs 4-6 lakh per year range. This disparity highlights a growing concern in the education industry. Why are some of our brightest minds receiving offers that are drastically lower than the expected norm? It's a reminder that while top-tier institutions like IITs continue to set benchmarks, the broader industry needs to focus on ensuring that all graduates are valued fairly for their skills and potential. As we celebrate the successes, we must also reflect on how to bridge this gap and ensure that every graduate is provided with opportunities that match their talent and hard work. #Placements #IITBombay #EducationIndustry #TalentValue #FutureOfWork #trending

"IIT/JEE Mains Results 2024 Records a High Number 100 Percentilers and IIT's Face Tough Placements in 2024" Read the full article to understand the IIT Puzzle. > This year, Indian engineering education is facing an interesting situation. On one side, more students than ever before have scored a perfect 100 percentile in the JEE entrance exams to get into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). But on the other side, a large number of current IIT students are struggling to find job placements after graduating. > The JEE Main 2024 results were mindblowing - 56 students scored 100 percentile, which is way higher than last year's 43. This shows how hard students are working to make it into the coveted IITs. However, their dream journey hits a roadblock when it's time for placements and jobs. > Across IITs like Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur and Madras, a whopping 30-35% of students haven't received any job offers yet as the placement season comes to an end. At IIT Bombay, over 30% are still unplaced. The situation is even worse at IIT Madras where 45% students don't have jobs lined up. Even branches like Computer Science, which companies usually hire from enthusiastically, have failed to achieve 100% placements at some IITs this year. This is really unusual. > Experts think this poor placement scenario is happening because of the slowing global economy. Companies are being very cautious about hiring more people due to fears of an upcoming recession. The international firms that traditionally hire a lot from IITs have stayed away from campus recruitments this time. > Some IITs have had to renegotiate pre-decided salary packages with companies. They are even having to consider job offers from Indian startups, which they normally avoid. > So in 2024, we're seeing a puzzling situation. On one hand, motivated students are clearing tough hurdles to get into IITs. But once there, they are finding it unexpectedly difficult to secure their dream job after graduating. > This gap between student aspirations and job realities at IITs is worrying. Both students and IITs may need to re-strategize - get industry-relevant skills, be more flexible to economic changes and seek diverse job opportunities. Only then can IIT graduates' bright hopes translate into successful careers. #iit #jeemains #iitadmissions #results #NTA #engineeringadmissions

38% of IITians are jobless on all 23 campuses. The Shocking Reality of 2024 Graduates The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) face a massive job placement crisis this academic year, with data collected by IIT Kanpur alumnus Dheeraj Singh through multiple RTIs showing that nearly 8,000 students — or well over one-third of the batch — have gone unplaced at all 23 campuses so far. This is a dramatic jump from two years ago when the percentage of unplaced students was just 19. While 37% of the students of the older nine IITs continue to be unemployed, their counterparts in the newer 14 IITs are even greater at 40%. In 2024 alone, as many as 40 percent of students of IIT Delhi were left unplaced. The situation at the institute is indicative of a broad rising trend in the number of unemployed graduates from various IITs Meanwhile, the job placement difficulty is complicating students’ mental health as there have been six suicides recorded since the beginning of this year. In turn, the IITs are doing something that they had to do never before. They’re requesting their alumni network to help them find a solution in helping students get placed. What makes the crisis worse is that the technological revolution has also affected hiring processes, and most companies are reluctant to hire college graduates. Don't Panic About Placements: A Reality Check for Indian Students. Many students are likely feeling anxious after news broke that 36% of IIT Bombay's latest batch didn't receive placement offers. It's a common concern: "If IITians aren't getting placed, what about the rest of us?" While the recession is a major factor, it's important to consider the bigger picture. Even during the 2020-21 placement boom, 24% of IIT Bombay students remained unplaced. Here are some reasons why placement numbers might not reflect the entire situation: * Some students register for placements but don't appear due to higher education plans. * There was a significant decline in walk-in interviews. * The recession has increased the hiring bar for placements. The job market in 2024 is different from 2020. These external factors shouldn't discourage your preparation. Remember, a career in IT isn't the only option – explore other fields that interest you. This post aims to give you a realistic perspective on placements. If you're not from IIT then watch this: https://lnkd.in/gUepUpur #iit #dsa #coding #dev
