Starting today off, we recognize a fantastic October. We've grown market share (increasing our lead), we exceeded revenue goals by a wide margin, and we approach each day, more equipped and more informed than yesterday. How did we get here? 1. Our trusting partners and customers. Without whom, we would never be what we are. 2. A zeal for new knowledge and re-thinking how things "are" 3. A consistent positivity and sense of humor in the office (even when getting crushed with tasks, time sensitive goals, or curative items) 4. Resiliency. Our teams, front side and behind the scenes, endure some mind melting legal discussions, underwriting approvals, and closing fire drills. Without bounce back, this field can beat it out of you. “…only as fast as the slowest guy..” This line jumped out to me as my good friend and mentor who is former Denver City SWAT told my son how a SWAT team maneuvers through a hostile environment. He said they “move forward single file, Kevlar protected chest forward but only as fast as the slowest guy.” This struck me as odd and counterintuitive. Wouldn’t each person want to move as fast as possible in a hostile environment? He explained that staying together as a unit and as a team was the safest and most effective way to operate to ensure the desired outcome. Without each member of the unit doing their assigned roles they are not as effective as they are designed to be. With this in mind, it is critical on the front end to hire the right people to the team and continue to train together develop and improve speed, skills, communication etc. I believe this has implications in business and personal life as well. Moving forward together, in a unified line speaks to connectedness, cohesion and ultimately trust. Trust that we are aligned and looking out for one another and will not leave a member of the team behind. I know I am only scratching the surface on this topic.
