This year's United Nations International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (29 September) is a powerful call to action! ?? ?? According to the latest Food Waste Index Report 2024, the world wasted an estimated 1.05 billion tons of food in 2022, with households alone contributing to 79 kg per capita per year. This means over 1 billion meals go to waste each day while 783 million people suffer from hunger. ?? Did you know that food waste contributes to 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions? By growing our vegetables closer to home, we not only reduce waste but also minimize our carbon footprint. That’s why we’ve gone to great lengths to develop plant-based compostable seed pods that you can grow in your kitchen and compost, ensuring zero landfill disposal. ?? Small changes can make a big difference! ??Grow your own food: Growing vegetables closer to consumption reduces waste and ensures fresher, healthier meals. At anu?, we’ve developed compostable plant-based seed pods that can be easily composted without landfill disposal, making sustainable growing even more accessible. ??Composting: Turn kitchen scraps into valuable nutrients for your garden, reducing the amount of organic waste sent to landfills. Let’s all work together—public, private sectors, and consumers—to cut food waste and optimize natural resources for a healthier planet and future! ?? #EndFoodWaste #Sustainability #GrowYourOwn #ClimateAction #foodsecurity

Food is crucial for survival. With the increasing population, food production has risen significantly. However, food distribution remains unequal. Shockingly, approximately 2.5 billion tons of food are wasted annually. While we can't completely eliminate food waste, we can certainly minimize it and repurpose wasted food for generating power, creating fertilizer, and other useful purposes. Food waste contributes directly to accelerating climate change, making it imperative to address this issue. ?? International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) ?? Food loss refers to the food lost from production up to before the retail level. Food waste pertains to the food lost at retail and consumption levels. Did you know that nearly one-third of all food produced globally is lost or wasted? This year's IDAFLW theme, 'Climate Finance for Food Loss and Waste Reduction,' highlights how investing in sustainable food systems is crucial to mitigating climate change and ensuring food security. ??? This video from FAO gives a good capture. https://lnkd.in/ebnTS5Rc By reducing food loss from farm to fork, we can combat hunger, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and support a more resilient global food system. Let’s work together—governments, private sectors, and consumers—to make every bite count! ??Buy the food you can eat and store. ??Cook only the quantity you need. ??Serve the right amount of food. ??Avoid leftovers as much as you can. ???Compost unavoidable leftovers. ??Plant some vegetables. ???Tell others #IDAFLW2024 #FoodSecurity #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateAction #ZeroWaste #FoodSystems #CircularEconomy

Today is the #InternationalDayOfAwarenessOfFoodLossAndWaste with the theme: "Climate Finance for Food Loss and Waste Reduction". Did you know that approximately one-third of the food produced globally is wasted every year? If we invest in #solutions that address food loss and waste, we not only mitigate climate change but also ensure #FoodSecurity, #ImproveNutrition, and #PromoteSustainableDevelopment. Let's come together to build a place where no food is wasted, and no person goes hungry! ???? #InternationalDay #FoodLoss #FoodWaste #ClimateFinance #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #SDGs

?? Did you know preventing food waste is the single greatest solution to fighting climate change? ?? Our current food system has a profound impact on our planet. The amount of food wasted globally could feed every undernourished person on the planet (!) ??? When we waste food, we also waste all the energy ?? and water ?? it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it. The emissions from our food systems can be significantly reduced by cutting down on food waste. ?? Annually, about 14 million tons of cacaofruits ?? are harvested worldwide. Previously, 70% of the cacaofruit—up to 10 million tons—was discarded. Now, not only are the seeds (beans) used, but also the fresh, juicy pulp is processed into delicious ingredients. ?? Join us in this movement to reduce food waste, fight climate change, and create a more sustainable world. Together, we can make a difference. ???? https://lnkd.in/dVdH8mEE #ClimateChange #Sustainability #FoodWaste #CabosseNaturals #UFA #UpcycledFood #Cacaofruit #EnvironmentalImpact #ZeroWaste

Reducing food loss and waste is crucial for combating climate change. Did you know that globally, about one-third of all food produced is not consumed due to loss and wastage along the supply chain? This results in a staggering 8% of greenhouse gas emissions being attributed to food loss and waste. It's imperative that we address this issue as part of our climate change mitigation efforts. Without prioritizing the reduction of food loss and waste, our efforts to combat climate change will not be as effective. One of the key areas to focus on is improving the efficiency of our food supply chain, especially in traditional food supply chains managed by smallholder farmers in developing regions. Inefficiencies along the supply chain, including limited adoption of post-harvest technologies, contribute significantly to food loss in these areas. Let's work together to make our food system more sustainable and resilient while also making meaningful progress in fighting climate change. #foodloss #foodwaste #climateaction #climatecrisis #climatemitigation

??Hunger and climate change are interconnected. Climate change affects food production and security through extreme weather events, altering growing conditions, and disrupting supply chains. This leads to food scarcity, higher prices, and malnutrition. Addressing these challenges requires sustainable agriculture, reducing food waste, and promoting climate-resilient policies. #ClimateAction #climatechange
