If there's a Uri-like storm this winter, outages would be less severe bc we have more solar + storage & weatherization of power plants is better but we'd still have outages bc we haven't made much progress on gas supply weatherization or energy efficiency. https://lnkd.in/gT9UEgSe
If you own a gas car it doesn't mean you have no range anxiety and don't think the range anxiety is only for electric vehicle owners. "Now think of all the people in Florida trying to get gas after the storms. Stations are drained or have gigantic long lines. Power is far more reliable than the gas distribution system it supports. And if you have a modest solar array you are even better off. I want to understand this better Seth Klein.... #FortisBC gets its mandate from the BC government, correct? And they are offering an extremely generous rebate program to incentivize customers to buy hybrid heat pumps, yes? The BC government is trying to get residents to move to address climate change and support the health of BC residents by setting up a rebate program to get residents to switch to low-carbon electric heat pumps, true? So.... The rebate program is being paid by gas rate payers, ie. British Columbians. The BC government sets the mandate for Fortis. Fortis is undermining the governments own policies. So isn't the solution simple... Bring Fortis' into line with the government mandate to reduce GHGs and end all subsidies for gas/hybrid heat pumps? I want to see policies align with protecting the health, safety and resilience of British Columbians. I also care about who will be left paying for the gas infrastructure...
