Today, I'm reflecting on one of Grant Cardone's 32 rules for success: "Love challenges." It's a concept that has a profound impact on me, particularly now as I navigate my journey with Fílos in a purely commission-based role. Embracing this challenge was a conscious decision to test my limits and expand my horizons. I've always believed in painting myself into a corner - not to limit myself, but to push beyond perceived boundaries. This role at Fílos is the epitome of that belief, presenting the tightest corner I've ever willingly placed myself in. With each step, I encounter new challenges, which, in my view, is a clear indicator of growth and progress. Moving towards fear is how I ensure I am constantly evolving. Each new problem to solve or obstacle to overcome is a testament to the journey I am on - a mission filled with continuous learning and relentless pursuit of excellence. Thanks for checking this out. More of an obligation than an honour. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely chuffed to have made it onto the list, and I am very thankful for everyone who voted on ROCCO. However, this recognition as someone of some influence comes with a weight. You can't play on the sidelines or sit on the fence. Your words carry and thus must be used with care to help advance this industry. I urge everyone on the list and outside of it to educate, challenge, and speak their minds. Never when we sat down for that coffee all those years ago did I think we would end up here. Very proud of all that we have achieved over the past two years, the incredible team we have and the wonderful group of clients we have built. Smartest, most genuine, hardworking bloke there is. Honour and privledge to learn and spend majority of most days with you! Could write a list as long as the Nile about what I’ve learnt from JB, here’s 5 points that first come to mind; 1. Listen, listen more, take notes, summarise in writing, engage any expert you can to upskill and better understand the problem, turn the world over to find the most powerful solution. 2. If you find yourself with a few spare minutes having finished a meeting early, driving or walking to lunch, spend this time calling your team members to check in, this will be invaluable to both you and them. 3. No matter how busy you are, always make the time to stay connected and engaged with your network, a quick text is all it takes. 4. Respect and celebrate the achievements of our peers, their success makes us better and drives us forward as an industry. WHEN THE SKATES DON'T MAKE IT ON TIME. Never been on such a multi-lingual "sports" team. Nice picture, and nice touch with the flag. I had not realized it was in the shot, too busy telling Felipe Morales from Mexico that there is ice hockey there. Clearly, both guys on either side of me are standing on a ledge, wanting to be above Canada. It is geographically impossible. But nice try... Merci beaucoup Dave Russ, and the rest of the fun, passionate bunch. After all those years, I finally learned how to say "mass spec" in French: "LE mass spec".
