Congratulations to the recent #TeamBayer recipients of the SASE - Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers Outstanding Career Achievement award. Each of the award winners - Yanfei Wang, Kun He, Aqeel Ahmad, Yurong Chen, and Grace Liu (left to right in the picture below) - exemplifies mentorship and scientific excellence, and have contributed more to their careers at Bayer than is possible to list here. Collaboration is so important to scientific excellence. Part of what stands out about each of these awardees is their commitment not only to being the go-to expert in their fields, but additionally their participation in internal employee groups, scientific societies, and community outreach. It takes passion to ignite the spark of innovation, and these five awardees have used their passion to help ignite the spark in many others over the course of their careers. In a figurative sense, "incubators" also fulfil this function for company founders. Incubators are facilities that help companies set up businesses and support them in the process. European universities are increasingly making such facilities available. Today's example of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven not only shows how complex the planning of a laboratory building is, demonstrating this challenging task, especially in cases involving overarching particular tasks, but it is also an exciting process. Paul Lodewijckx and Kirsten Cornelissen will discuss this future-oriented topic at our EGNATON Forum in June 2024, 4-5 pm CEST. Just touched-down in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a much-anticipated week of collaboration with our partners at #Sonador. We are looking forward to working together to further improve our OpenNovations #Aranei data management system capabilities integrated into #Sonador's innovative medical imaging solutions. Our continued progress in data management and analysis is exciting! Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to present our work at the ETSI #AI conference, see the poster attached. Our joint poster highlighted not only our technological progress, but also the real impact we are making in diagnostics and treatment. Building on our previous in-person sessions, such as last September's highly productive meeting in San Diego, we understand how important it is to maintain and enrich our partnership. These in-person exchanges are incredibly revitalizing and insightful, not just for business for our mutual innovation paths, but also on an interpersonal level. By the way, fun trivial fact, did you know that during the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002, the #Dutch team snagged a total of 8 medals, including 3 golds and 5 silvers? Their outstanding performance made that event particularly memorable for us Dutch, giving me (for entirely unrelated reasons) high hopes for this week!
