?? Exciting News Alert! ?? I'm thrilled to announce the publication of our latest research paper titled "Blood-Nanoparticle Interactions Create a Brain Delivery Superhighway for Doxorubicin" in the International Journal of Nanomedicine! ?? In this study, we delved into the intricate mechanisms behind the brain targeting of doxorubicin-loaded polybutyl cyanoacrylate (PBCA) nanoparticles, shedding light on their interactions with the blood-brain barrier (BBB) - a crucial obstacle in brain cancer treatment. ???? Our findings revealed a groundbreaking discovery: while Doxil? behaved as expected, accumulating in the brain through extravasation in tumor tissue, surfactant-coated PBCA nanoparticles utilized a unique mechanism termed "cell hitchhiking." This resulted in an astounding more than 1000-fold increase in brain permeation rate compared to Doxil?! ?? I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Matthias G. Wacker, my former supervisor, and all my colleagues in his lab (https://lnkd.in/guCBgxTW) and NUS for their invaluable support and contribution to this achievement. None of this would have been possible without your guidance and collaboration! ?? This research opens new avenues for enhancing drug delivery to the brain, offering hope for more effective treatments for brain cancer patients. ??
