Take your mailing list first names and run them through ChatGPT to generate *common* first names that start with the same letter. Get a testimonial from an existing donor (one where you would normally flag that you've changed the name for anonymity) and run your mail merge with things like "...other donors like [SIMILARNAME]* say..." ?? Situation Report ?? On October 9, Hurricane Milton struck Florida as a Category 3 storm, causing extensive damage. Tornadoes and flooding left over 3.3 million without power and at least nine dead, with 11 million at risk of further flooding. FEMA deployed over 1,000 management staff and 1,200 search and rescue personnel from other agencies. This hurricane follows Hurricane Helene, marking the shortest interval between major hurricanes in Florida’s history. CWS is actively engaging with local authorities and collaborating with fellow organizations. The images over the last few weeks from Hurricane Helene and the devastating impacts the storm has had on the communities of Western North Carolina, and the nearby states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have demonstrated the critical need for communities to support each other in times of crisis. As members of the transportation community, we regularly rise to the occasion when crises occur to our people or to the infrastructure that we maintain so people can go about their daily lives. I’ve been trying to put into words my feelings in the devastation of Hurricane Helene and honestly I don’t know what to say. - no way to contact friends or family due to no cell coverage/ power/ roads closed. - loss of life totals increasing daily. - thinking about entire towns that will likely never recover. How do you prepare for something this catastrophic?! - farmers and small business owners that have their entire livelihood ruined. Crops destroyed, and the tourist money that gets them through fall nonexistent. Those that aren’t a from NC/ TN/ SC mountains, the idea of a hurricane doing what Helene did is unimaginable. It’s a once in a lifetime event that no one could have prepared for in any real way. How do you prep for mountainsides sliding with great speed into your town and house? Or Dams being crested/ failing? Or 40 inches of rain being dumped into your area rapidly? Please pray and donate whatever you can to reputable relief organizations. **Be cautious of random gofundme accounts until things can be verified. ** I added a picture of Chimney Rock, one of my favorite places to visit in NC. Completely wiped off of the map.
