As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we reflect on the rich cultural traditions and wisdom passed down through generations. One powerful symbol in many Native cultures is the concept of the Four Winds, which represent the four cardinal directions: North, South, East, and West. Each direction holds its own unique significance: North: Symbolizing wisdom, strength, and the guidance of elders. South: Representing growth, renewal, and youth. East: Associated with new beginnings, inspiration, and the rising sun. West: Reflecting introspection, maturity, and the setting sun. These directions remind us of the interconnectedness of all things and the balance required to navigate life. As we honor Native American communities this month, let us also take a moment to reflect on how we can carry forward their teachings of respect, unity, and understanding. Let’s commit to learning more, supporting Native voices, and acknowledging the deep cultural contributions that continue to shape our world. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #FourWinds #CulturalAwareness #NativeAmericanHistory #RespectAndUnity

#HaveYouHerd: Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a time to celebrate and honor the rich cultures, contributions, and resilience of Native American communities. Originally introduced as a counter to Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day serves to reclaim history and shine a light on the true experiences of America’s first inhabitants. It represents not only a celebration but also a moment to reflect on centuries of resistance, resilience, and continued advocacy for justice and recognition. While the federal government has officially recognized it since 2021, many states and cities still do not observe the holiday. But for the communities that celebrate, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength and impact of Indigenous peoples throughout history and today. Let’s continue to elevate Indigenous voices, support Native-led initiatives, and commit to learning more about the diverse tribal nations that shape our country’s cultural fabric.
