Update: A memo issued by the Office of Management and Budget on Wednesday January 29, made public at approximately 1:15 pm, has rescinded the freeze on federal funds. We are grateful to our community for your swift response and attention to support survivors. Your voices were heard! ___ On January 27, the White House's Office of Management and Budget issued a memo directing all federal agencies to pause federal grant, loan, and financial assistance programs effective 5 p.m. ET on January 28. Minutes before the freeze would have begun, a federal judge extended the effective date by six days. This pause would have detrimental impacts on public support services across the nation, including Kentucky's domestic violence programs, the employees who keep them operating, and the survivors they serve. As a member program of ZeroV, the coalition of Kentucky domestic violence programs, we are urging concerned Kentuckians to contact their Members of Congress today and insist they do everything in their power to prevent the federal funding pause. This is important. Helping people navigate recovery from being victims of domestic violence is important. If you don’t know someone who was victim of domestic violence, it’s more likely you have someone in your circle who has never told your their story. Please give this a read. GreenHouse17 ZeroV

Last night, the Office of Management and Budget issued memo M-25-13, "Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs." This guidance would freeze federal grants and loans effective 5 pm ET on January 28, 2025. We strongly encourage programs and concerned Californians to contact their members of Congress today to urge them to do everything in their power to stop this order. Please use the below information, including the template email script, to reach out to your members of Congress. Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121 Contact Senator Padilla Contact Senator Schiff Find your Representative Template Email- For Public Supporters (Template Created by California Partnership to End Domestic Violence). ------------------------------------- Dear Representative/Senator X, I’m writing to express my concern and dismay at yesterday’s Office of Management and Budget memo M-25-13, “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs.” As a constituent and concerned member of the community, I am concerned that this memo directly threatens survivors of crime. These survivors cannot wait for a pause while a federal agency analyzes the funding that enables service providers to provide them with the life-saving shelter and support they need. They need our help now, in the immediate wake of the most traumatic and difficult moments of their lives. As your constituent, I am asking, on behalf of survivors and their families, to do everything in your power to stop this order from affecting core, necessary funding such as this. It is essential that the federal grants on which victims’ service providers depend do not experience any interruption. If they are interrupted, then our ability to serve victims and survivors will be gravely compromised, with immediate and real harm to the people who most desperately need our help. With regard, X #maitribayarea #cpedv #congress #california #senatorpadilla #senatorschiff #budgetfreeze #supportsurvivors #enddv

Funding Freeze Halted *********************** A federal judge?temporarily blocked?the Trump administration's order yesterday to pause funding for all federal grants, loans, and other financial assistance just minutes before the directive was scheduled to go into effect. The block lasts until Monday afternoon and sets a hearing for arguments that morning. ? The White House's order intended to temporarily halt trillions of dollars in aid to initiatives including education, healthcare, child care, disaster relief, housing assistance, and small businesses. The Office of Management and Budget sent a?two-page memo?and an 836-page spreadsheet to federal agencies Monday night, asking them to provide details about their spending programs. ? The move aimed to review funding to ensure financial assistance programs align with President Donald Trump’s policies. Critics argue the order violates the?1974 Impoundment Control Act, which outlines the procedure presidents must follow when they seek to withhold funds—much of which is authorized and required to be disbursed by Congress via the annual appropriations process (see overview). ? Separately, Trump is reportedly?offering buyouts?to federal workers who don't want to return to the office as long as they resign by Feb. 6. ?

Urgent - Take Action Now ?? The White House has directed the Office of Management and Budget to order all federal agencies to temporarily block disbursement of all grants, loans, and other financial assistance -- the pause is scheduled to go into effect at 5:00pm EST today: Tuesday, January 28. The impact of a funding freeze of this scale is potentially devastating to vulnerable communities in San Diego and across the country. Program staff—many of whom face homelessness and housing insecurity themselves—may lose pay. Critical services may be paused. With rent coming due for so many assisted with federal rental assistance, rent checks to landlords will likely be delayed. TAKE ACTION NOW - Use your voice to tell Congress what the impact would be of even a short-term disruption to grants, loans, and other financial assistance in your community. The Trump Administration has ordered all federal agencies to suspend grant, loan, and financial assistance activities by 5:00 PM ET today, January 28. This action endangers vital programs that support vulnerable communities nationwide, delaying rent payments, disrupting services, and risking staff livelihoods. It does not include Social Security or Medicare benefits, nor does it include “assistance provided directly to individuals.” Agency- and/or program-level guidance is still forthcoming. The Alliance urges all recipients of federal grant funding, including Continuum of Care and Emergency Solutions Grants funding, to prepare for disruption of reimbursement and any activity associated with grant execution. We need Congress to stand up and speak out today against this latest action by the Trump Administration. We need YOUR voice to tell Congress what the impact would be of even a short-term disruption in obligation and disbursement activity to grants, loans, and other financial assistance in your community. #funding #federalfunding #financialassistance #congress #speakup #takeaction

A temporary freeze on federal funding isn’t just a bureaucratic delay—it’s a direct blow to the most vulnerable in our communities. For many, this isn’t just a funding pause—it’s a life freeze. Imagine a single mom, working two jobs and relying on rental assistance to keep a roof over her kids’ heads. Without it, where will they sleep tomorrow? Picture a domestic violence survivor, finally safe in a shelter, now facing the terrifying reality that the shelter may have to close its doors. Think about a case manager who spends their days helping others secure housing, now worried they won’t make rent themselves because their nonprofit is being forced to cut staff. These aren’t hypotheticals. These are real people who depend on federal support for their survival. Every hour this funding freeze continues, more families edge closer to eviction and homelessness. Shelters face impossible decisions about who they can help, and nonprofits are pushed to their breaking point. Mental health services, youth programs, food pantries, and affordable housing efforts are all at risk of collapsing. The longer the freeze, the deeper the cracks in our communities will grow. And the people most affected are the ones who can least afford it. https://lnkd.in/gHp7PfvE

Well...here we go. This is one way to save on the federal budget - shut down financial assistance programs for the people who need it most. Nonprofits should expect major delays in federal funding. The review of these programs is not due back to the White House until 2/10/25. “It will mean missed payrolls and rent payments and everything in between: chaos for everything from universities to non-profit charities, state disaster assistance, local law enforcement, aid to the elderly, and food for those in need.” https://lnkd.in/gb3rennM

The Trump administration announced on Jan. 27, 2025, that it would temporarily pause federal grant, loan, and other financial assistance programs. This would have enormous ripple effects in Oklahoma and elsewhere. A federal judge later in the day temporarily blocked the policy. Oklahoma in 2024 received about $14.269 billion in federal grants that supported programs and services, including child care, transportation, law enforcement, housing, food security, health care, and much more. Here is an overview of how Oklahoma relies on federal grant dollars for programs and services that impact millions of Oklahomans. https://lnkd.in/gtrEQgaW
