I've had the pleasure of managing this project over the past 3 years whilst also undertaking the mechanical integration design for SWR's Class 158 and 159 fleet with a fabulous team. Words cannot describe how exciting we are to show such an important system to enhance safety on the railways. Highlights: The modular design allows for easy installation onto any sand hopper profile currently fitted on trains. New sand hopper can also be provided for Double Variable Rate Sanding (DVRS) or increased sand capacity. Braking distances can be reduced by up to 50% in low adhesion conditions. Single Variable Rate Sanding (SVRS) system consistently providing above 5%g train deceleration using a 4kg/min variable rate program. SVRS 6kg/min variable rate program providing above 7%g train deceleration.
