- Hi, I'm Luke Mills. I'm a foundry engineering intern at New Castle Grede and I work in the foundry department. Grede's intern program has a lot of different areas you can work. There are many different plants in different states and different departments you can work in. So, even if you are an engineer or an accountant, you can work in different parts of it to get a good base. - My name is Cassius Sampson and I am a metallurgical intern at Grede. The different thing about Grede's intern program in relation to other internship programs is that not every intern is doing the exact same thing. Every single intern is working on a different unique project where they get to apply their own skills and learn new skills at the same time. - My name is Henry Vo and I am a senior mechanical engineering student at St. Cloud State University and I am an intern, a manufacturing engineering intern at Grey St. Cloud for the summer internship. Pretty tailor the internship program into what you have learned, your strength, and your weaknesses. And from that, I was able to develop the skill and, you know, apply the knowledge I've learned from school. - Students should complete an internship at Grede just because of how many options there are. There's various locations that can suit anyone's needs, various positions. You don't have to be in metallurgy or mechanical engineering. You can be in something business-related, statistical, like data-related technology, like computer science. You can really be like majoring in anything, specializing in anything and still make a difference at Grade. - My name is Will Almond, and at Grede, I'm a machining intern. I'd say the thing that sets 'em apart is definitely their interest in the interns themselves. So, through past internships that I've had, I've definitely been in the position where you're kind of in the back of the office and unattended to. But through a lot of my internship, I've felt that the upper management and people have always tried to come talk to me or see what I need and how I can improve in my area. So, definitely, with being able to keep up with their interns and actually feel that they're a vital part of their employee system. - I would tell others that Grade's internship program isn't just you sitting down doing office work all day. You're actually getting able to apply your major, actually getting able to work on meaningful things and make an actual change in the company.

Thank you for sharing Rachel. Your offer to connect hiring managers to others on campus is an option hiring managers don’t consider. Career Services and Handshake are free ways to recruit candidates. Alumni and current students. Connecting to the Dean of a department that teaches the coursework you’re seeking and/or connecting with the Professors and instructors is another option. Consider connecting with these people when you don’t have openings and offer to be a guest speaker. If the students meet you and remember you, they may pursue opportunities at your company.

The Business Career Fair hosted by OSU Career Services this fall was a huge success! With over 170 employers sharing details about internships and full-time opportunities, our MS BAnDS students had the chance to explore potential career paths. Companies from our Corporate Advisory Board were also present, interacting with students and providing valuable information about available roles. Our students made the most of this opportunity to network and explore their future careers.
