This quarter marked a profound milestone: presenting at both NESA and EARCOS, INC conferences. As I stood there sharing OWN Academy's 8.5-year impact story – first solo at NESA, then co-presenting with the amazing Meghan Robertson from American International School – I had one of those "full circle" moments. Rewind to my first conference appearances: I was an outsider in education, without any family connections or industry background. I remember giving myself daily challenges: "Today, I'll meet 10 principals." Each conversation was driven not by selling, but by sharing our 'why' – our vision for transforming education. Now, presenting our impact data and success stories alongside established educators felt surreal. The numbers surprised even me – each statistic representing a student's life touched, a mindset shifted, a future reimagined. What struck me most was the contrast: - Then: Walking into conference halls knowing no one - Now: Being welcomed as a peer and collaborator - Then: Learning the language of education - Now: Contributing to its evolution - Then: Seeking connections - Now: Building partnerships This journey taught me something crucial: when your 'why' is strong enough, it becomes a bridge. It connects you to people who share your vision, even across different backgrounds and experiences. ?? Amazing Experience at DCSTW! ?? Last week, I posted about the incredible opportunity I had to attend DC Startup & Tech Week (Formerly DC Startup Week), where I connected with inspiring, like-minded startup founders and innovators. It was a fantastic platform for networking and sharing ideas! During the four days that I attended the event, I experimented with how best to describe my work at Nobel Learning PBC. It was fascinating to discover how different people responded to variations on my standard elevator pitch. By the end of the week, I had a concise answer for when people asked me "What is Nobel?" ?? Nobel upskills the current and future workforce ?? I was thrilled to see such a positive response, especially from parents who expressed interest in how it could benefit their of high school and college age children. When their children sign up, they will have an opportunity to learn the skills they will need to maximize their impact when they enter the workforce in the future. I also found success by asking the leading question "What was the last corporate training that you really loved?" The facial expressions that preceded the answers I received told the whole story. My description of our Nobel Elevate solution for corporations led to some truly enlightening conversations. It’s clear that there’s a strong desire for upskilling solutions that foster collaboration and growth in the workplace. I’m excited to explore potential partnerships and collaborations that can help us all achieve our goals. A big thank you to the organizers and everyone I met for making this event so impactful!
