"It feels quite weird because if you think about it, I think all of us should be at the same point." This clip is taken from a Channel 4 programme that follows a school that helps its students uncover and eradicate hidden racial biases. Students are asked to line up as they are going to race. However, the starting places are decided by answering some questions first. The questions are designed to highlight how different people have different starting blocks in life. "People often confuse white privilege with being wealthy or being rich. It isn't about that. What it's about, is the absence of having to live with the consequences of racism." Have you ever taken a step back to assess where you started in life compared to others? Or to learn more about your unconscious biases? I am white, cis-gendered, heterosexual, and British, and I grew up in a stable, comfortable home. ? I know that my lived experiences in this world aren't the same as others - I've had a head start compared to many. Being mindful of our background helps us acknowledge any biases or assumptions we might unconsciously hold. This awareness is essential in ensuring fairness and inclusivity in work. Sharing this video to help start that conversation. Those looking to hire soon, I challenge you to understand your privileges. This enables you to empathize with individuals from different backgrounds. It in turn fosters a more inclusive approach to recruitment and team-building, where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.

Day 4 -?Lack of Pronoun Support and Options: Applications that don't offer a field for pronouns or don’t allow applicants to specify their pronouns might create an uncomfortable or unwelcoming environment for applicants.
