Nobody has a favourite child, right? ?? Same goes for work projects? Which is why, with zero hint of bias, I want to very gently draw your attention towards a green hydrogen working group programme that a small team here at Tamarindo have been quietly delivering now, for the past 2+ years. For context, when the team initiated this programme, green hydrogen was in the midst of a(nother) hype cycle(s). Interest rates, electricity pricing and investor/developer appetites were also in a pretty different space, too. However, despite this, scroll forwards 24 months and this closely controlled working group continues to meet every 90 days. And with each meeting, the quality of the discussion continues to deepen, not diminish. Reflecting on the progress delivered to date, I think the key to its success lies in our team's ability to bring together developers and investors to collaborate together, as opposed to compete. We provide that level playing field. And that in doing so, we're playing our small part in shifting this nascent market forwards. One step at a time. ?? Here's to the next 12 months! In a nascent sector like green hydrogen where there is a lack of precedence, lack of common market for offtake, where supply chain is much less commoditised compared to traditional renewable energy, the Power to X Leadership Council by #Tamarindo provides timely valuable forum. I believe in the power of story.? On a personal level, we need to understand our story. ?Every one of us has a story that is either intentionally or unintentionally shaping our life. It is a story that helps us make sense of the world, informs our relationships, and defines our leadership. How we share and live into that story will determine the level of hope and impact we bring to others. On an organizational level, the same dynamic is at play. Organizations have a story that defines their values, mission, and the way they engage others. They need to be wise and discerning about that story and how it is consistently shared with and experienced by others. Do you aspire to greatness? ?? My absolute favourite type of clients are those who want to go from good to great. The ones who realise that all of the top performers in the world have coaches for a reason. Because there is always more space to expand and become even better. I lead an organization, Ohio Environmental Council, dedicated to protecting our environment and creating a better world. This week I spent time connecting with members of our staff, board, and close supporters as we have been inundated with rapid, often destructive changes. Excited to be on my way to WindEnergy Hamburg for the next 2 days ?? ?? It’s a pivotal moment for the wind industry and I'm very keen to discuss the progress and challenges in the energy transition firsthand. I‘m optimistic by the strong actions being taken: ?? EU Wind Power Package: 15 immediate actions, including: EIB's €5bn counter-guarantee facility. Improved auction design and permitting. Plus significant funding from the European Commission and EIB. ?? Supply Chain Growth Support: Expanding manufacturing capacity in Europe. ?? Member States' Implementation: Progress in adopting the Wind Power Package. Yet this absolutely necessary to adress the roadblocks quickly: ? Grid Bottlenecks: Slow grid expansion and equipment constraints. > We need to attract private finance, improve planning, and strengthen infrastructure. ? Permitting Issues: Delays in wind farm approvals across many countries. > Lets sprint implementing new EU rules and digitalize processes. ? Financial Hurdles: High costs and lower expected power prices complicate investment decisions. > Extend use of two-way CfDs and PPAs, simplify EU funds. ? Bolstered Competition: Chinese turbines offered at much lower prices, threatening European manufacturers. > We need to scale the supply chains, yet driven higher innovation and make meaningful use of trade policy tools I‘m very much looking forward to the discussions about how we can create even more tailwinds and recruiting extraordinary leadership teams to make it happen!
