Welcome to Grand Rapids Labels How it's Made series. Throughout these videos we'll aim to give you a behind the scenes view on the preparation it takes to get our labels to our clients. Enjoy. The first step in preparing a label begins with our in-house lab. Our lab is headed by our Materials Engineer and lab technician. This team is primarily responsible for researching and testing material constructions based on the requirements the label must meet as provided by the client. This is most common when working with OEM automotive specifications. This allows us to confidently make material recommendations that will not only meet the clients expectations but surpass them. A key feature of our lab, when working with a prospective client, is often acquiring samples of their current label. With the help of our calibration equipment, an adhesive identification technology backed by our library of thousands of known adhesives, we are accurately able to determine the materials used in your current labels. This allows us to diagnose where label performance issues may be occurring or provide a baseline of how the label should be performing. Being a specification driven organization, our ability to conduct testing in house to allow for instant results rather than outsourcing and waiting weeks for feedback is essential to our client success. Some common specifications rerun into, but are not limited to R abrasion, chemical resistance, heat aging, humidity resistance and many more. Overall, our lab is a tremendous asset for our clients to feel confident that Grand Rapids Label will produce high performance labels and help to reduce the barriers of transitioning your label spin.
