Why Europe urgently needs to prepare for the reality that Trump will be successful in rapidly overturning US democray: Schedule F. “Tens of thousands of civil servants who serve in roles deemed to have some influence over policy would be reassigned as "Schedule F" employees. Those levels of influence included "confidential, policy-determining, policy-making or policy-advocating," the order says. What it means to be given a Schedule F assignment They would lose their employment protections upon re-assignment, making them functionally at-will employees and therefore far easier to fire, Gov Exec reports. It could apply to as many as 50,000 federal workers out of a workforce of more than 2 million” Typically, a president appoints around 4,000 positions upon taking office (something Trump famously fumbled on upon taking office in his first term, as he had not expected actually winning). This time, far from it: as part of Agenda 2025, the ultra-right wings have recruited and trained aggressively loyalist Trumpists for the very purpose of installing them in positions that would be vacated by means of Schedule F leverage. This goes to show that the incoming administration is not only serious, it is extremely well prepared and resourced to rapidly execute on Scheudle F to dismantle democracy in key positions of administrative expertise and decision making. Here's a lecture on political media bias. The following article begins... "President-elect Trump’s plans to reshape the federal workforce would allow him to fire wide swaths of career employees and replace them with political appointees — a move that comes as he has demanded loyalty at every level of government." ...followed by a depressed analysis of what this would lead to, e.g., quoting a union representative: "“I think there would probably be an exodus, because federal employees just want to do their jobs. They want to do the job according to law and regulation,” Jacqueline Simon, policy director of the American Federation of Government Employees. “They do not want to be political appointees. They don’t want politics to interfere with any aspect of their job.”" Which for the political dumbo, of course, sounds alarming. What's not mentioned, though, is that Trump and Republicans have found this move necessary because over 90% of all federal bureaucrats are Democrats -- and are actively behaving like such. In other words, the 40-50.000 federal employees we are talking about are, by blocking, delaying, and in other way, sabotaging changes conservative presidents try to implement. Thus, they are trying to nullify the voice of the People. Hence, to do what Trump is now (finally) will do is not pushing through a devious politicization of the federal workforce. The California Metals Coalition provided a great snapshot email that I had to share below because VOTING IS CRITICAL. Not just this year, but every year. Voting is a privilege of being a US citizen, and though I certainly have my own thoughts and opinions on the equity, effectiveness, and structure of our current political system, voting is more important than ever. "*****California law allows employees to request paid time off to vote on November 5th. The polls are open from 7am-8pm PST.***** 1.??Prior to October 25th, all employers must display a poster describing California’s voting leave requirements. Time Off To Vote notices are available in 10 languages from the Sec of State. 2.??Employers must provide employees up to two hours of paid time to vote in a statewide election, if they lack sufficient time to vote outside of working hours. The worker can be away from work for more than 2 hours, but only 2 hours will be paid. 3.??Employee must notify the employer at least two working days in advance to arrange a?voting?time; and 4.??Time must be taken at the beginning or end of the shift — whichever allows the most free time for voting and the least time off from working — unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Final Note: All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Ballot drop-off locations opened on October 8, and ballots can be returned by mail, drop-off location or your county elections office. Plus, California’s Voters Choice Act allows voters in 29 counties to vote at any?voting?center in a participating county starting 10 days before the election (Keep in mind that it is the county where your employee is registered to vote.). This means additional communication and coordination might be needed." Countdown to November 5 The Teamsters have?decided not to decide. One of America's largest unions won’t back an Oval Office contender after neither candidate was “able to make serious commitments” in meetings with union leaders; it ends a 24-year streak of endorsing Democratic presidential candidates. Local Teamsters Councils in key battleground states?have since endorsed Harris, though internal polling suggests 60% of members nationally back Trump. The former president called the double-candidate rejection “a great honor.” The race is really tight. Polling throughout September suggests that Trump and Harris are essentially tied?in Pennsylvania, the swing state widely predicted to decide the election. In?national polling, Harris has a three-point edge.? With 46 days until election Tuesday, voters in 10 states have already begun filling in bubbles.
