??An inspiring story of hope and resilience?? Meet Mehboob Masih and his family, who, like many Pakistani Christians, were ensnared in the vicious cycle of debt bondage at a brick kiln. Forced to work long hours in grueling conditions, their debt only seemed to increase. The kiln owner's threats kept them from seeking help or even leaving. Yet, in their darkest hour, a ray of hope emerged. The NGO, "Redeem the Oppressed", stepped in, offering legal assistance, advocacy, and financial support. They secured the family's release and helped them embark on a new journey of freedom and opportunity. This story isn't just about the Masih family. It's a testament to the power of collective action and the crucial role of organizations like Redeem the Oppressed in combating modern slavery and uplifting marginalized communities. ?Personal Reflection: It's stories like these that remind me of the importance of supporting and advocating for those who are voiceless. In my own career, I've seen the transformational power of financial freedom and the impact of lifting others out of crippling debt. ??What can we do? ?? Engage in meaningful dialogue and educate others about modern slavery. ?? Support organizations dedicated to ending these practices. ?? Offer our skills, be it financial literacy, legal expertise, or advocacy, to empower those in need. Today is National Sorry Day, a day that acknowledges the trauma, displacement and suffering endured by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as a result of the forced removal of children during the Stolen Generations. We acknowledge the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people and communities and we stand in solidarity with First Nations people in their ongoing fight against systemic oppression and injustice. We recognise that the social, economic, political, emotional, psychological and physical health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is dependent upon the dismantling of the systems that continue to impact their communities. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are still being removed from their families at alarming rates. We need to listen to the voices of First Nations people and communities to find the solutions. We cannot continue to just acknowledge the forced removal of children in the past, while it continues to happen today. We know that words are not enough, we must take action. Endless cycles of systemic oppression, racism and injustice cannot continue. We must listen to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and invest in their self determined solutions. #SorryDay #Sorry
