Love this update. Please take advisory councils seriously. They are not: ?? The final resting place of board members who should otherwise step down ?? A "pipeline" for "young" "diverse" "wealthy" or other profile of a person that you should probably work to better clarify and just recruit and retain on the board. ?? An "easy" way to fundraise. Advisory councils MAY do some of the above, but whatever your intention with creating one, it requires time, talent, and resources. Treat it accordingly.

A year ago I had the opportunity to journey out and “do my own thing” through some contract work in a variety of areas/sectors. I never knew quite where it would lead or where I’d find my spark. Turns out, I can’t shake it, I’m a “nonprofit guy”. Nonprofit work is the root of my education and career. Over the years I’ve latched on to two questions to always ask: “What’s the right thing to do?” and “Does it fulfill a need?” Yes and yes.
