It's fitting that our Community Review Process takes place during National Volunteer Week! We take pride in recognizing the hard working volunteers that give hundreds of hours to make the annual review process successful. These 40+ volunteers spend time visiting every agency, reviewing outcomes and outputs, evaluating budgets, and listening to agency presentations. Proud moments ?? There are a couple of things I am proud of over the past month: 1) The linking up with Father Hudson's Care and the different projects within that, including Young at Heart, Tabor and St Chad's Sanctuary. Where we have delivered awareness raising sessions to staff, volunteers and service users. Last Friday saw me deliver to approximately 40 participants in person, I was asked if I wanted the microphone, and to those who know me, there will be no surprise that it wasn't needed ?? There was so much participation and I just genuinely enjoyed it. If you would have told me three years ago that I would be enjoying public speaking, I would be laughing. 2) Recruiting Volunteers As a Volunteer Coordinator, sometimes there is a lot of background work, writing role descriptions, listing them in various places, lots of email contact and liaising with people. However when you have volunteers start with your organisation, you see that it is starting to pay off. When you hear of the fabulous work that they are doing, the volunteers at the start of their journey meeting other volunteers and getting along and the ideas that they are putting into fruition, that the service users are enjoying, it makes it so worthwhile and more. Heading into my long weekend feeling reflective, practicing gratitude and happy that some things are paying off.
