That's why we're committed to creating content that reflects and celebrates the wonderfully diverse communities we serve. Inclusion matters, not just during Pride Month, but every single day. When we create classrooms where everyone feels welcome and respected, we foster a sense of belonging that empowers our students to be their most authentic selves. As educators, you have the power to make a difference by embracing diversity and creating inclusive learning environments. Whether you're organizing a classroom display or simply reminding your students that they are loved just as they are, every act of inclusion matters. Share how you're creating a more inclusive classroom in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to be champions of love, acceptance, and equality. #PrideMonth #LoveIsLove #InclusionMatters #CelebrateDiversity #EducatorsOfLinkedIn

#BuildingBridgesTowardsInclusiveEducation “#Inclusion is not just about being in the same physical space. It's not about children just being in one group on one end and one or two kids being on the side doing their own thing. Inclusion is about bonding #meaningfully, engaging, learning, doing things #together meaningfully. I often describe it as inclusion is not just about being invited to the #party, but it's really wanting to #dance. It is about a sense of feeling #safe and welcomed and wanting to be a part of the mix. It is about celebrating #diversity. On the flip side, though, there is also this piece about talking about inclusion. And I don't like talking about inclusion because it does mean that there's a group of us on the inside who get to actually decide who else needs to be a part of this group. And I think that's not fair. People should, children should be sort of fitting into the fabric of #society, weaving into it very naturally. And really, diversity needs to be celebrated. Oftentimes we don't end up doing that in our culture.” - Shamin Mehrotra, School Outreach Director and Senior Counsellor, Ummeed Child Development Center Video Description: The 55-second reel features Shamin. She has black and brown hair, is wearing a pink shirt, seated on a chair against a backdrop of colourful picture books.

With this week marking National Inclusion Week, it’s a great time to focus on why inclusion matters. As the proud sponsor of one of our Cadent Communities, Pride at Work, I know all too well from heart wrenching stories and lived experience that as a society, we still have work to do. Within Cadent, inclusion is not a tick box exercise; it’s fostering a culture where people feel valued and accepted as their authentic self. It’s important we ensure everyone’s voice is heard and that they feel they truly matter. We have to be intentional about raising awareness by educating, being mindful and speaking up when things aren’t right. #impactmatters

This week, we join the world in celebrating Nonbinary Awareness Week! ?? As part of our commitment to inclusion, it's essential to honor and respect all gender identities. So, what does that look like in practice? Here are some ways we can make our learning environments more inclusive: ? Lead with your pronouns and ask others how they identify. ? Offer gender-neutral bathrooms in place-based learning settings. ? Use gender-inclusive imagery. ? Model gender-inclusive language. Instead of "ladies and gentlemen" or "men and women," try "guests," "folks," "friends," "colleagues," or "y'all." ? Use correct pronouns and accept corrective feedback graciously (no defensiveness needed – it’s all part of learning). ? Avoid gender-normed behavior expectations, such as associating colors or stereotypes with binary genders or forming groups by binary gender. ? Include diverse narratives in learning materials. Represent all genders equally in examples, cases, and context. ? Consider gender equity in characters, names, roles, and occupations within learning content. Remember, gender is a cultural construct. It's a socially constructed classification that changes over time and varies across cultures. Gender does NOT mean biological sex and does not indicate sexual orientation. Understanding and respecting this distinction is crucial for creating inclusive learning environments. When learners feel safe, welcomed, and seen, their engagement in learning significantly improves. By acknowledging and celebrating intersectionality, we can move beyond simply avoiding exclusion and towards actively creating inclusion. Psst...this principle applies to all forms of diversity. Let’s learn more about nonbinary and transgender identities together. Check out these resources. Breaking barriers starts with breaking misconceptions! ?? Inclusion in schools isn’t just about having everyone in the same room—it’s about creating an environment where every voice is heard, valued, and respected. Yet, some notions of inclusion fall short, missing the mark on true diversity and equity. Let’s challenge these outdated perspectives and strive for a truly inclusive education system—one that celebrates every individual for who they are and embraces the richness of our differences. Together, we can redefine inclusion and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future! ??? #inclusion?#inclusionworks?#createchange?#inclusion?#community?#socialchange?#inclusionmatters?#disabilityinclusion?#communities?#inclusión?#diversityandinclusion?#inclusivesociety?#comeonecomeall?#everyonewelcome?#inclusiveeducation?#inclusiveness?#inclusive?#socialresponsibility?#inclusiveeducationservices?#inclusiveeducationpolicy?#circletime?#educationispower?#resources?#studentsuccess?#thecirclemakers
