In this abstract, I outline the key components of my internship project focused on enhancing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The project aimed to improve the accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of existing IEPs by conducting a comprehensive review and gathering feedback from stakeholders. Through collaboration with educators, therapists, and parents, I proposed and implemented modifications to better meet the needs of students with special needs. This work not only provided me with hands-on experience in the field of special education but also contributed to advancing personalized education. The abstract encapsulates the project's approach, outcomes, and the impact on students and the educational community.

This is how we use macro level change for huge progress.
The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services is investing in students today to become our communities’ behavioral health care professionals of tomorrow. I’m thrilled that we have received over 1,000 applications for the behavioral health care internship stipend program already. We’re making key investments to strengthen the provider pipeline and address the growing demand for behavioral health care professionals: ?? Students training to join the behavioral health workforce participating in select internship opportunities can receive a stipend of up to $15,000. ?? We’re also encouraging more students to seek a master’s degree in social work by offering a stipend of $30,000 with their commitment to working in behavioral health care in the state upon graduation. These programs, alongside other strategic investments to enhance the continuum of care, ensure Michigan families have access to behavioral health care services where and when they need them. From the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC): “Diverse perspectives and backgrounds in the health professions — spanning classrooms, labs, and clinical settings — enriches the educational experiences of all medical and health professions students and the teaching experiences of faculty. Diversity, including racial and ethnic diversity, is essential to improving the overall health of our nation. In fact, diversity cultivates an innovation mindset, catalyzes creativity and discovery, and enhances complex problem-solving, prediction, and forecasting.” Our Talent Garden youth summits and summer internship program inspires youth of color to pursue healthcare careers. It moves us in the right direction to improve outcomes for #BlackMaternalHealth and lessen health disparities in marginalized communities. #healthequity #BlackMaternalHealthWeek https://lnkd.in/g6zJ-C5n

The Shared Leadership Network met to explore the topic of Meaningfully Involving Families and Communities. THIS IS WHAT WE LEARNED: Meaningfully involving students, families, and communities goes beyond asking for their opinions. It means intentionally involving them in the design process, actively encouraging families and community organizations to be on campus and involved in student activities, and valuing families as experts in their larger communities. Here are some examples ?? ?? Teams devote time and funds for home visits, encouraging parent participation in some projects and internships, allowing students to gain credit while working to better their communities. ?? Teams decide to adopt a year-round schedule or adjust daily start and end times to better meet the needs of the students and community. ?? Teams advance a bilingual and bicultural program that is different from the district’s standard language immersion. ?? Teams decide to use a community schools model to meet the needs of the whole community, including offering medical and dental services, opening their campuses after school hours for activities and adult education, and providing social services connections. Absolutely delighted for all my A-level psychology students who have done exceptionally well. Hard work pays off! ?? However, doing well in one subject doesn't always get you where you want to go &, regardless of your results, you have all done yourself proud ?? ?? ?? There are so many different paths after A-levels: Take a year (or two) out & go travelling, learn about the world & different cultures. Look at what's on offer in clearing - many people find a different path when they're not under so much pressure to pick (at age 16/17!). Take a job offer & earn a wage whilst you decide what really takes your fancy. Take up an apprenticeship. Before all of that....celebrate the extra 2 years of study you put into yourself.
