Happy New Month!! My thesis during my Masters degree focused on a topic very dear to me: The Societal Stigmatization of Men's Mental Health. As someone surrounded by amazing men, I feel compelled to address this issue, as this month is Men's Health Awareness Month. Men are expected to be strong and stoic, to hide their feelings and vulnerabilities. Society and the expectations of traditional masculine norms tend to prevent men from seeking help. This makes men, according to statistics, less likely than women to seek mental health support. A reluctance that can lead to untreated mental health conditions that might have an impact on their general well-being and quality of life. Tragically, this sometimes results in high rates of suicide among men worldwide. It is crucial we challenge these expectations and create a supportive environment where men feel supported to discuss their mental health. So, let's normalize conversations around mental health for all, including men. Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to seek help without fear of judgment. Be a listening ear, a supportive space to the men in your life. Men's mental health is not a sign of weakness but a necessary part of them being human. Let's make a world that allows men to feel empowered to take care of their mental health. #MensMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma #Wellbeing #SupportEachOther
Men are 4 times more likely to end their own lives, making up almost 80% of all suicides. 40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. Men, if you are struggling please don’t be another statistic. Speak to someone and get the help you deserve. You’re not alone ?? https://lnkd.in/ea2jDqnF PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide 0800 068 4141 #mensmentalhealth
