If we had 1000 members at $25 a month, we would be able to provide 50% of our annual budget for 2025 and serve 500 Veterans and participants through our programs... 2) Volunteer your time at one of our events or join our team. None of these opportunities are possible without help from our community, Veteran and civilian. 3) Spread the word about our foundation. Our alumni are the heart and soul of what we do at 22P - and their involvement is critical to our mission. We are incredibly thankful for their commitment to supporting our incoming veterans. Here are some of the key roles our alumni have taken on: * One of our alumni teams up with veterans as their scuba diving "buddy," meeting those with scuba certifications for dives at local spots. * Several alumni participate in our "Battle Buddy" program and provide crucial support to incoming veterans. * Another local alumni offers daily morning meditation sessions at the beach, promoting gratitude, balance, and peace for our veterans. * We also have an alumni who assists veterans in creating and managing VA disability claims. * Another dedicated alumni developed 22P's application portal, providing the first touchpoint for veterans with our organization. * We also have an alumni who captures and edits all of our veteran testimonials, ensuring their stories are shared. These are just a few of the creative ways our veteran alumni have gotten involved and choose to give back to their brothers and sisters. White busses. Military families know all too well what those mean… White busses have 2 very significant meanings in the military community: Deployment & Homecoming Any time I’m driving on a military installation, my stomach flips when I see a convoy of white busses. Someone’s either saying “goodbye” or welcoming someone home. If you’re part of the military community, you know the roll of emotions that come with seeing white busses. As you watch the news, remember people like the ones in this photo. There are *hundreds of thousands* of military personnel currently deployed. And if you’ve been watching the news, you’ll know many of those folks are in some pretty hostile, tension-filled, very uncomfortable environments. Remember Everyone Deployed every day. Consider the sacrifice they’re making as they spend months away from their families - time they’ll never be able to get back. Let’s talk about those families more often. Let’s hold them in support more often. Let’s come together more often to ensure they know they’re seen. ?? Why supporting military families matters: ?? 5 million Americans are part of the US Military.? ?? There are 2 million military children who have had a parent deployed multiple times to Iraq or Afghanistan. Our mission at?The Rick Herrema Foundation (RHF) is to provide fun, quality activities to strengthen relationships within military families and to build community. Many of us at RHF are in the military or came from military families. The experience changes you, and we want it to change our families for the better. We execute fun, quality activities. These are not random programs. They are grounded in science and practical experience. Our offerings are complex, requiring a complex base offering that must include: -Stimulating group activities for an intergenerational, multicultural population -Food at no cost -Infrastructure to allow for individual exploration -Event infrastructure such as areas for parking, registration, etc -Year-round planning -All must be done at a zero price point to the participant? -Each month we must mobilize a large network of people. Events and activities happen at Rick’s Place is a 50-acre interactive greenspace 5.5 miles from Ft. Liberty in Fayetteville, NC. To all peacekeepers, past and present: thank you for your service. Each year, a national ceremony is held in Ottawa at the Peacekeeping Monument on the Sunday closest to August 9, which is #NationalPeacekeepersDay. This special monument, titled “Reconciliation,” was given its name because it symbolizes two warring sides that have settled their differences peacefully. It commemorates Canada's role in international peacekeeping and members of the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes, alive and lost, who have, or are currently participating in, peacekeeping missions. *Interesting fact: If you go to the monument, you’ll see broken-up concrete below the walls which represents the destruction caused by wars. The walls rise and form a point to symbolize society moving toward peace. Twelve oak trees represent the ten provinces and two territories that comprised Canada when the monument was created in 1992. ??? Celebrating the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers! Since 1948, over 2 million peacekeepers have served in 71 missions, guiding nations from war to peace. Today, 76,000+ peacekeepers from 120+ countries are deployed in 11 operations, fostering global peace and stability. Australia first joined in 1947, sending military observers to Indonesia. Over 75 years, tens of thousands of Australian military and civilian peacekeepers have served in more than 60 operations across 30+ countries, playing crucial roles in conflict prevention and recovery. ??? Despite challenges, peacekeepers remain steadfast, safeguarding civilians and promoting peace. Every May 29th, we honour their bravery and remember those who sacrificed their lives for peace. ?? This year's theme, "Fit for the Future: Building Better Together," highlights 75 years of vital peacekeeping work and calls for collaboration to tackle evolving challenges.
