CINEMA: I make here a step aside from my typical post as i went to the movie theater yesterday evening. ?? "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" is an iranian movie directed by Mohammad Rasoulof which won the Special Award of the jury of the Cannes Film Festival. ?? While i am rather suspicious about the prizes of this Festival, this time it is well deserved! This movie tells the story of a family during the iranian unrests due the rejection of the theocratic regime and overall the massive rejection of the islamic veil, seen and lived as the main symbol of oppression. What is interesting is the opposition between the father, Iman, working like a servant in the legal machine of oppression in the Revolutionnary Court of Tehran, and his two teenage daughters whereas his wife is rather supporting his husband while trying to find a balance. As nationwide political protests intensify, the family's life is pervaded by mistrust and paranoia. The protests force Iman to sign several hundred death sentences a day. At the same time, his daughters, Rezvan and Sana following the protests in horror on their cell phones, rebel against their father at the dinner table by expressing feminist sensibilities which her father dismisses as enemy propaganda.? Then Iman lost his gun and suspects his wife or one of his daughter to be the thief. Then the descent into hell begin... Be sure the film is much finer and smarter than my own description. Its main flaw is a too long end but there is nothing to drop at least in the three first quarters of the movie: excellent acting, beautiful photography, etc. ?? My last word is a paradox : how can we find group of people defending the islamic veil in Europe while people fight and die to not wear it in Iran ? Of course, the answer is to find the point where the free will begin and where the law of a community starts to crush the individual... https://lnkd.in/e-BKTHkU

Its arms for places written on them when going right or left hence it's placed in crossroads.. It's a long figure and I'll discuss it more in the following post
