PERSON-centered Care During my leadership course in my #cardiff studies, we have discussed the definition of Leadership. According to the Joint Commission International (2009), Leadership is essential to achieving goals related to quality care and patient safety. A very strong correlation exists between leadership and values. Those values that has ignited the importance of practicing person centered care. Not to forget that employees come UNDER the person umbrella. Let the care you have within the mission and vision be there for your patients. Care and value based leadership shall be favoring patients, family of patients and staff. Healthcare professionals are a major stakeholder in this area, they are the front-liners in every healthcare system. Let the leadership ideology cater for all the PERSONS that take part of the health journey of every patient. Establishing clear safety goals and expectations, promoting safety accountability, and encouraging employees to report incidents and near-misses are all part of this. Healthcare teamwork and collaboration should also be prioritized by leaders. Effective communication and collaboration are required for identifying and mitigating potential patient safety hazards. Leaders can promote communication and collaboration among healthcare providers while also implementing inter-professional team training programs. Prioritizing patient safety in healthcare organizations not only improves patient outcomes but also fosters a safety culture that promotes better quality of care and ensures patients receive the highest level of safety and care possible."
