Amusing conversation I overheard: "Tell the FBI! I mean are you kidding me?!" she says, incredulous. "But what if they already know?" he mutters. "Uh.... duh... tell them anyway! You do realize that just like your congresscritter, they are also prone to prioritize according to how many 'constituents' call them 'complaining', right? I mean at least if you aren't calling to report an actual crime, that is. If you're just calling to say 'uh, my new neighbor is kinda acting suspicious and goes around experimenting with homemade shoe soles and I'm worried he's trying to make a shoe kabloooey thingy'... well they get a lot of 'see something => say something' reports... especially on the anonymous tip line." "I'm sure they already know..." he mumbles. "Dude are you serious?? You're too afraid to spend a few minutes calling even the anonymous tip line of the FBI, and yet you spend ridiculous amounts of time following the guy and even harassing him in petty, secretive ways... and your excuse is 'well somebody might have beat me to it'??" "Well I just *know*" "Oh... so well you won't even show the confidence... or accountability... or sanity to just post it *once* to your facebook? And thereafter be done with it? You know... the one filled with public posts and rants about Biden this, Trump that.... you know... rants about people you know zilch about?" "Well where there's smoke..." As in literal, not figurative, immediate evidence of an actual fire. As in right now. As in you can *see* it, *smell* it, possibly even feel the heat, if you're close enough. That saying literally means the _opposite_ of how you're using it!" "Yeah that's what I mean! There must be fire!" "Um, no, that's not even remotely what you mean. You mean specifically that there is thus far no actual evidence or even _sworn statements_... heck, not even 'hearsay' that's willing to be 'on the record.' Only quite profitable rumors spread by literally profit-motivated talking 'heeds' - dumbasses whose ongoing salary directly depends on 'selling' such assumptions and 'pre-judgements' i.e. prejudices.
